  1. Been there done that, it felt like I'd been filled in for the rest of the day and I had to go to hospital to have my eyes checked.

  6. Above are photos of the filler pipe and the last is when it leaked before changing the pipes

  7. Thats really bad, that pipe doesn't look that old either.

  8. You were lucky the bus didn't catch fire.

  9. My fuel filler neck pipe/rubber was like that too, held together with tape, very easy to change though

  10. Me too; seems like a reasonable way to add some reassurance :)

  11. It looks like some f the breather pipes are plasitc flexible (ish)
    Are these available anywhere?

    Cheers

  12. Not sure to be honest someone must do them.

  13. My neighbor has a crossover bay, he has a lid over his fuel cap I want to help him change all the filler neck etc. what parts do we need?

  14. A previous owner 'kindly' cut a hatch to get through to the fuel sender on top of my tank... Looks like the breather pipe which is right there has been replaced but is it possible to see any others in the fuel tank area? I imagine this area is a little safer as vapour can't as easily get through to the hot engine compartment?

  15. @Chrisradioman @VW Aircooled Works

Having bought a fuel hose kit I'm in the process of changing all the short breather connecting pieces but they are so bl**dy tight, is it OK to lubricate with something I was thinking a bit of hand wash soap ? Alternatively have you any technique that might help me!

  16. Have you tried hot water for a few minutes to soften them?

  17. I would use engine assembly lube or some 3 in one oil.

  18. Changed my breather one behind spare wheel carrier easy job to do going to replace every fuel line with the 100% ethanol resistant fuel lines that peter from vw air cooled works sells in the winter months. In the meantime have bought a fireboy from him give me a piece of mind image.jpg

  19. I have the same set up, T removed and pipes joined together = no pipe to carb!
More tinkering before the Switzerland trip....
