  2. Your always better to ask how it was sent, As most is sent first class only. Then you say never received it. They will then have to re-issue the documents. It happened to me once I was pulled over as I flashed up on there system.

As people say failure to notify change of address is a finable offence.

  4. There is no doubt you were at fault for not notifying.
A solicitor will (provided you have enough money) almost certainly be able to deal with the speeding offence. (I got away with loads when I had money to spare and there are literally thousands of ways out) but in doing so you will only then be collared for the failure to notify.
Unless you have pots of spare cash, are a footballer's WAG or have an 'inside' connection high up in The Service, I'd suggest you turn up, cop for the £60 and three points (providing you weren't doing 140 mph past the local primary school) and claim mitigating circumstances, poverty, ignorance, stupidity (you own a Bay so this can be medically proven) and as suggested earlier act horrified and cry.
It is a little unfair but, you know what? So is life.
The grief and cost of trying to get away with this is really not worth it, chalk it up to experience.

  5. Just to clarify...I am not looking to "get out" of anything, I am completely mortified that the police could turn up at my house and have an arrest warrant for me.

I am just staggered that an unanswered speeding ticket could lead to this.

I have spoken to a solicitor who is going to check some details with the court for me this afternoon and then we'll take it from there

Thanks again for help and supportive messages

  10. An update

I spoke to a solicitor at lunch who managed to get down to the court for me this afternoon and speak to the legal advisor there. The arrest warrant is being rescinded, and I just have to go into the court to swear on oath that I have never received the paperwork and then both outstanding charges will be dropped and the initial speeding offence issued again from scratch. Cost me £150 for the solicitor and more than happy with that.

Whooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooooooooo no longer having bad dreams about beefy jail birds and rattling keys (though deportation to Oz would have been nice).

Thank you all (again!) who sent me karma or supportive PMs or gave advice, it really helped

    Z xx

Bad luck isn't it? I went through a speed camera at 90mph a week before christmas and touch wood I've got away with it. ;D

  16. good stuff - ultimately you won't have a criminal record and that's the main thing. As long as you respond immediately to the reissued paperwork, all's okay.

  17. Glad you can have a 'sigh of relief'.

Its a bit late but I would have gone to court coughed the speeding and not bothered with the solicitor, who in my experience are a bunch of immoral rob dogs!
