  3. Do any of your insurance policies or credit cards have free legal advice ?
Maybe not your car policy though !
I reckon Mabel's advice is good.
Best of luck though magistrates are normally pretty sensible people.

  4. This is totally bonkers but even knowing this I bet your still nervous about turning up at court, I know I would be!

I always get my fines handed to me from work so I could never dodge em!

Take care Friday & we will check to see if your featured on the 6 o'clock news...

  5. From experience(unfortunately)they sent notice to prosecute to the official correct address, the copper advised u to break the law which had u been found out (99.9%likely) would have compounded your upcoming misery, you really must seek independant legal advice tomorrow ,courts/magistrates have little time ,as do duty solicitors for /to peeps who turn up on day of appearance and want case put back ,2 them you are ramping up the public purse bill< they will be of the opinion that you had ample time to deal with it and you will be "grandstanding",otherwise>>>ask a brief"do i have a LEGAL defence to this charge?"and listen to what he/she says and proceed accordingly. tomorrow" >best wishes

  6. Is it an offence to fail to notify DVLA of the change of address? I know you have now, but I wonder whether there was anything prior to that. Also, nice renters if they're not forwarding any post for you that arrives with them!

Definitely agree with the advice to contact your own solicitor, rather than rely on the duty one, as the information quoted regarding the offense seems a bit vague.

  11. JUST? in case you are getting worried , the "main" charge, is the biggie, should you have to "cop" for that legally, any other minor "crimes", i.e. not sending v5 with change of address in soonest are generally ignored< otherwise it gets very Television-ish i.e. "charge the prisioner with even more offences" >very rarely happens esp. in a junior/magistrates court>they simply want to get thru their day with min. of hassle. and its a finite "crime" i.e. there is a max. fine> a max points on license they can hand down as punishment.>unfortunately, the law is neither fair nor free(well ,not in my experience anyway)i am not suggesting you do this(heavens forbid) but my very middle class girl friend simply bursts into tears (4 her? works every time)

The judge will don the black cap & intone the words:

"You are to be taken from this place to the place from whence you came & there be hanged by the neck until you are dead & may God have mercy on your soul."

With luck you might just get transportation for life
