  5. Yes slowly does it ,my garden has took three years from a barron field and you can still walk 30 foot without seeing a plant... ;D

The first thing I bought was trees ,cherry/apple/pear etc ,it takes to for them to produce....

But nice you are getting on with it....well done....... 8)

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Our garden was a half/full-tme job. I'd never have one again that you couldn't just slash and burn 2x a year.

It was fantastic, but look the other way fro 5 mins and it was/is a jungle. :(

    as for the three plants
no 1 is possibly an iris, but i'm not too sure

  9. I'm about as good at gardening as I am mechaniking and cooking. Fire away if you've got any questions.

  10. I like(d) gardening until I killed my back - I used to spend hours planting and keeping it looking good.

The new garden is a lot easier to look after now - a few potted trees and a lawn that takes 10 mins to cut

Going to do some work on it next weekend to give it a bit more life

  17. Nice garden Poptop. You mentioned keeping a few hens, which is a good idea in any garden. We usually have hens and ducks, but got a bit fed up of them being eaten by foxes and have had a couple of years off. Just reassembled the hen houses this year to start again. If you clip their wings (cut off the ends of the flight feathers with scissors on one side), you can just let them run loose in the gardern. They will eat some plants / veg but will keep all of the pests down. Call ducks are another option if you fancy some livestock - the are small and look cute and you have a pond too. Duck love slugs, we are still slug free around 18 months after our last remaining duck was killed.

  18. this is our garden.

I was out yesterday planting a few new things and re potting a few others. it was lovely and relaxing.
we only moved in last summer and the garden is pretty basic at the moment but I have plans to change it over the next few years - little bit at a time.

I'd like to get a standing height vegetable area behind the shed and get a few more bigger plants to grow.

the garden is just 30 meters from the beach so it always has that lovely coastal aroma - but also stupidly strong winds too ....

i think there are certain plants that do well on the coast and others that don't ,best read up first bud - i love all the shrubs with a quiff by the sea :)

  20. yes Malc - very true ... grasses do well ... I'd also like a Palm tree - or two - with a hammock between ...

I used to have a hammock in my old garden and do miss it.
