  2. So all was going well by Monday night!....

Tuesday came and a move around was in order so I could get to Archies right side!
Took his driver side door off so I could get to his right side seat belt anchot point
    [IMG]
cut the bad one out and made a new piece to fit
    [IMG]
    welded in and cleaned up
    [IMG]
    all still going well.....
It was then time to cut out the horrible right side bell pan, what I found what not so good:(

  3. Here is what I found.....
cut the sill out so I could see what was going on
    [IMG]
after a think, a cup of tea, a long sigh and a deep breath I decided to start drilling out the spot welds
    [IMG]
and carried on...is there really need for this many spot welds hahao_O
    [IMG]
    started picking the welds
    [IMG]
and promptly got bored so swept up Archie
    [IMG]
finally got myself home and ordered the new sills and outrigger!
    and todayyyy they arrived!!! shineyyyyy:cool:

If I dont get any work related phonecalls tomorrow I'm going to try and get these bad boys fitted along with new jacking points! Wish me luck!

  4. Keep up the good work dude you may not feel it but one day it will all come together

Top tip for the future dude is to clean back and etch prime a panel before using seam sealer but never primer before filler

  5. yeah to be honest I got ahead of myself and had ands covored in sealant and needed to put it somewhere before it dried out haha:rolleyes:
so should I clean the etch primer off the panels to filler them? I'm not doing the painting myself so the guy doing the paintwork will probably sort it before starting, or I'll do it tomorrow if I get chance

  6. I use filler over bare metal scoured with 80 grit paper the scratches in the steel give the filler somthing to grab hold of
Never filler over paint it may stick but it will crack or pull away some time in the future

  7. Bit of an update, started friday carrying on with picking the welds of the inner and middle sills
    got one out
    [IMG]
    got the second one out
    [IMG]
offered in the new inner sill
    [IMG]
inner and middle sill in offered up outer sill
    [IMG]
    outer sill welded in
    [IMG]
cut out old and fitted new jacking point and outrigger
    [IMG]
needs a bit more welding in but not bad
    [IMG]
    so a bit closer:rolleyes:
front jacking point and front rear arch to fit then battery tray then its prep for paint, pretty pleased!

  8. Looking good, how you prepping it for paint?

  9. just flatting filling getting it as right as it can be then letting the paintshop do its thing im not real hot on paint, gonna clean up the bottom seal and stone chip and underseal it myself but thats about my limitso_O

  10. Yeah I've done the same but I have also painted the bottom but paint shop doing the shell. It's worth giving the extra effort to get the bottom as clean as possible, hopefully you'll only have to do it the once :)

  11. agreed im not stripping mine though so it gonna be fiddly getting round all the parts! never mind as you say it will be worth it!

  12. Its coming along great dude

  13. Had an Archie day today, got to the workshop cut out the front right jacking point out started welding and found it had run out of wire so fter a trip into hull work started!

    started like this
    [IMG]
fitted new jacking point and found a bit of doggy metal on the outrigget so plated it up
    [IMG]
    and plated up the gaps
    [IMG]
    made up bottom pillar piece
    [IMG]
    welded arch into place
    [IMG]
    nearly done underneath!
just need to cut the rest of the belly pan out that havn't been bothered to do yet
so appart from a slow start got a bit done!

  14. oh and while I was under there I found out why Im not getting hot air through the blowers, broken heater cable that runs to the diverter flap jobby, flap is moving fine so just need to replace the cable:thumbsup:

  17. Little bits like cleaning up those step mats really help speed things along when you come to put the bus back together
Plus its the little details that make the bigger picture look so good
Keep up the great progress dude

  18. Thanks mate, dont really feel like im getting anywhere at the moment thats why I had a play with the step mats and organised the flooring! hopefully a good day on friday will get me a bit more in the right direction!
Dent in a camper is looking doubtful though haha

  19. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

    You're doing a grand job!
See this bit - it's for Brazilian Bays and clashes with the bulge on old buses which is why it's been bent out of the way by whoever fitted the arch. You can cut it right off. Most people would have, before they fitted the arch. Just the strip that's not attached to the bulkhead, the next chunk you need to keep.
