  1. Keeping Archie in a bodyshop just outside beverley, I work from home but work all over Hull and surrounding area doing garage euipment and compressed air.
Tell me about it! got both front parts of the rear arches and sills to do and I looked through a hole today and saw quite a bit of missing metal lol, Archie still has his belly pans on so i think its been holding moisture.

  2. Just seen your resto daisy1! looks like alot of work! looking good though O0,do you have a workshop you keep your van in?

  3. I built a shop in my garden in Hessle 8), I might have a roll over jig for sale soon if your interested, makes life a lot easyer?

  5. They do make life easier, it is a pre welded one and apart from some over spray and scuffs its as new. I was gona bang it on a forum for a couple of hundred notes, was £300. I'm hoping to have her on the deck at some point this week.

  6. Bit more work done!
if you look back on the first few pis of the thread you can see a crack in the door metal, this was plated, welded and filled
    [IMG]
Ended up taking the door off and found lots of rust and filler so made a few bits up with the thought that a bodge with metal is better that a bodge with filler (not quite finished)
    removed the sliding door
    [IMG]

  11. Your doing a great job, quite a bit of rot to cut out by the look of it but, the welding looks solid aqnd at least you will know underneaths solid when you have finished.

What strikes me about all these vans is that they can look really smart from the outside (mine did), with fairly decent paintwork but, upclose and personal they can be falling apart, I don't get how some of them could actually have passed an MOT.

    Keep at it.

  12. yeah mate I realised how bad it was when I was replacing the brakes a while back, I tried to pick it up on its jacking points and it just made a crunch sound! I found today that there was nothing between the jbs and the van floor! just a hole where some metal should be haha god knows how it passed mot!

  13. Gud stuff mate youve found the usual baywindow rot then lol

  14. Looking forward to a full day working on Archie tomorrow! rear left jacking point and top hat piece to weld into place, front part of rear arch and sill to fit! gonna be a man on a mission!

cleaned the rust and wagged it over with hammerite kurust!

Now after getting winged at by my old man that while im working on Archie I aint earning any money for the company as of monday Archie is on his way to another workshop for someone else to weld all his pourly bits up which include right side jacking points and battery tray.
At least I got the left side basically done barring seamsealing!
Another bonus is I can spend weekends and evenings working on him which I could not before.
So next job for me is getting the windows out and prepping the doors, wheels and bumpers ready for paint than once the welding is complete hes back to the bodyshop for a shiney paintjob! watch this space!!
