I'm stocked up on straws now! and I'm getting by on tea, soup and chocolate fingers.

A few funny looks in the local Tesco express earlier, I was wanting to tell someone I'd been fighting a tiger at the zoo.
Good to hear your up and about giving it large dunking and sucking choc fingers ). Id be a bit nearer the truth and say i had a fight with a 35 year old german heavy weight but you should see the state of him ) sounds like you your grinder and that surgeon could set up business in beveley hills ay. keep it up

Yes, The guard is something I've always been particular about, also had goggles, gloves and plenty of clothes on so was well covered up. was just not wearing a full face mask. I tend to only wear one when working underneath, as have had stuff still get in my eyes when wearing a full face mask, I dislike the open sides, I much prefer the closed seal of a decent set of goggles.

I've been humbled by the repsonse and karma coming my way though, I'll have to start dishing some back out as feels like I've a surplus now, but generally only post when I feel I've got something useful/interesting to say

Thanks for the reply dude

I always keep the guard on the grinder but dont use a full face mask as like you ive had loads of shards in my eyes

Makes me cringe about using the chainsaw now as ive zero protective clothing for that

operated on a deadmans trigger !

My mate had a grinder where the switch broke so he wired it straight to the motor bypassing the switch
He used to switch it on and off by plugging/unplugging it

I watched it wrap the wire brush up in his t shirt whilst trying to unplug it one day

The next day he was using it again

Zed Gradually getting grumpier

I took the guard off mine after this happened.

My finger got dragged in between the guard and the 2mm disc just for a brief whizz but long enough to slow the grinder down. I tend to be much more careful without the guard on I hope, but my constant risk assessment has gone up another level since you started this thread... not enjoying work today.

I would like to apologise to anyone I have not yet offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

It could have been worse, and it looks like its gone back together in all the right places.
thats a bit much ,if you wanted to have lips like angelina jolele,you could have just used botox bruv.......hope you get well quick and love coming over from bethnal green old chap .....

RE site Work - the most dangerous thing about site work these days is the lack of english speaking folk working on them. How the hell are you supposed to communicate or shout a warning when 70% of the people on sites dont speak english.

Another nonsense comment. In fact bordering racist comment. If you worked in proper construction you'd realise that those that can't communicate do not qualify for CSCS. All this "construction is full of people that can't talk English" nonsense is utter rubbish.

I spent some time working as a pipe fitters assistant in Holland - on one occasion I was inside a huge pipe cleaning the surface with a grinder where a hole had been heat cut into the pipe - one chap decided the pipe needed to be moved a few cms so he hit it very hard with a sledge hammer - at which point my ear drums went berzerk and I almost dropped the grinder on my face - when I popped out of the pipe the language I was using probably wasn't the english language the dutch learn at school

I hate to say this, but those stitches look like they were done by a 15 year old civil war nurse. During a battle. At night.
I've seen a lot of facial scars and thought they looked swarthy and added character, but there is a limit.
I hope you have seen a plastic surgeon. Maybe it's not too late to restitch.
You should have literally hundreds of fine gossamer stitches pulling that together to minimize scarring.
I just wanted to be sure you know that while there may still be time to do something about it.
