The funky green panels are meant to be good quality. Just cost and length of time to get them is the bugger
£150 each! Ouch. I looked at Klassic Fab for cab floor bits but yes they seem to be impossible to get hold of.
Wow! What a great job you're doing with your bus and your first resto as well! Can't wait to see more
I can post you a pic of my offside middle sill however it doesnt mean mines the right way of doing it . As far as wheel arches I've been looking around too. JK do a money saving kit for the full set but if you look at the panels individually the rears are klokers. The ones on Scofields site at £30 a pop appear to be bare metal so guessing they arent the same. All the klokker stuff is usually coated black. The front split arches on Schofields appear best value too. Did you manage to get a discount code for them?. I notice they quite often have a 10% discount for collection at shows they go to but thats tge best I can find. Dont see them doing any shows locally for me tho. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Hi Jim. Liking the look of the roll over jig but we might be a bit tight on space. How much room does the jig need at each end of the camper? Cheers Gary
No Oooooo still got lots to do just the same work and bits keep getting in the way ....but yours is looking good some nice metal work going on there
jimbo, if you ever want to venture up to Sherborne you are more than welcome to come and look at Desmonds underneath, for points of reference/pictures etc. I'll even put the kettle on.
Hi James, Just found your thread and love the work being done slow and well, so now added to watch list. Re the front arches, it seems some genuine VW are for Brazil built T2's and the step to cab floor height is slightly different so the flunge needs to be rebuilt or you could cut and weld as I have see: http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/lottie-a-79-full-restoration-part-1-2-3-4-5.53655/page-3
Pay day today so of course got myself the full set of arches from Schofield's. £460 all in for gen front arches and repro rears.
Measurements from my bus: Rear of bus to rear of jig feet: ~930mm. Front of bus to front of jig feet: ~830mm. Take those as the minimum space you'd need either end. Let me know if you want any further measurements or help.
just a thought, but when rotating the bus on the jig do you need to move beyond those limits or do you stand within them, if you get my drift!
The above measurements are the room needed either end of the bus (i.e. Front and back). Either side of the bus you do need a bit of extra space. I can get extra measurements tomorrow for you if you like. Do you have a picture of where you plan to roll it, might be able to tell from that.
best picture I could find. And that's still got the roof rack on, so looks like you don't need much extra room really:
