A mini roller rustoleum redecoration

  1. Neat might be a bit thick. Try it on a bit that doesn't show first.
The engine compartment on mine seems to have the best finish to it. Probably because I was painting outside in June and the metal was a bit too warm so the brush strokes never went. :(

  2. Foam roller with a tray £1 from Wilcos.

Although I've been wondering whether a mohair roller might be better.

Para, to take the nibs, and bits of sock fluff, off before the second coat would it be better to wet sand? I've got 320 grit, 1000 grit and 1500 grit.

  5. Looks like a very good first coat. When we did my son's van, we let the paint dry for a couple of weeks between coats and definitely not straight from the tin. You must use it thinned as you have done. We did 3 coats. Still looks good after 2 years out in the open.

I think we thinned 20%. You can use it neat for the underbody (brush) and engine bay (brush).

 That's what I want to hear. :)

  7. If that's all you have then 320 will have to do

  8. that sounds a bit silly ;) ... when I did my engine bay I used a brush and a gloss roller

I'm pretty certain I have quite a few sheets of 240 in the shed would you like me to stick them in the post if they are any good to you?

Cheers Ray, thats a nice offer, if you actually bought and paid for them in a shop then I'll say no thanks 'cos I don't want you to be buying sandpaper and giving it to me.

If, however, you aquired them from work or some other free place and you can get as much as you want then I'll say "yes please". :)

  17. Bob I tried using rollers from various places, Wilkos, eBay and others but I found the b&q 4" mini rollers their own brand, diall I think they are called were the best. I bought a few roller and tray sets and then a pack of foam heads.

I was about to respond saying I'll check in the morning but by the time I'd almost finished typing I thought i could have gone and got the sand paper by now.

Hope these are good for what you need 240 grit, 9 sheets.
