Looking very......red....Bob! I've seen a few rustoleum jobs on cars in the past, some good, some not so good....but tbh, if you keep layering it up, provided it bonds properly, you can't really go wrong...if it's thick enough, you can compound it to near death and get a glass finish...It's going to look fine Don't listen to those big boys....they're just stupid and mean
Looks great Im going to do my hightop bit in rustolium i think now, did you say before its just the normal one they sell in B&Q?
I 'think' I sent off for mine from the interwebnet, it was probably six years ago that I bought mine.
There's some links on this thread to suppliers... don't know if we get club discount or not though.. http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/57529/ Rust oleum colour white
Looking good I've been watching this. You've probably seen it, if not hope it helps. Bubbles/hairdryer?
Thanks for sticking that up, I hadn't seen it before, if mine turns out that nice I'll be well pleased.
Looking good Bob I always find it starts to come together after the second coat The paint seems to prefer floating over the top of flatted rustoleum than it does other paints
Bob with the foam roller if you spend 5 mins loading the roller with paint then squeeze it out by applying slight pressure as you roll it over the tray Then you will get less air bubbles as the paint will displace the air trapped in the foam
Looks great . I've got all the stuff to do mine this way seeing yours makes me want to get my finger out
Yes but I went through to the primer in a couple of places between coat 1 & 2 so I think rather than getting it completely flat I'll just get 50% of the Ørange peel off. You can see how you're doing when you sand dry because the unsanded bits are still shiny but when you're wet sanding it all looks glossy because of the water. However, you can easily tell when you've smoothed it properly because the emery paper just sticks to the paint like glue.
Yeah just sand it enough to give it a key for the next coat to grab hold of until you have built up a decent thickness You would have had less chance of breaking through if you had done the first coat un thinned You should be using 400 grit paper in between coats and 600 before your final coat It sounds like your starting to get the feel whilst your flatting By the end of this panel you will find you can flat the other panels with your eyes shut and the paper will feed back how your progressing Then a wipe down every now and then to cast your eye over it It's nice when you eventually get the nack
