  1. umm.. looks like replacing the beam was a good idea.

  2. PS can you tell we don't have MOT's here in BC? You only have to get a safety inspection if you get pulled over and cited by the police...it's a great system.. until your beam drops out from under you.

  3. while I wait for my bus back from lowering, my new top is getting painted..

  4. after much reading on the samba.com, i am just using a cheap hardware store enamel. I have yet to put on the final coat, which i am hoping will look ok with either a foam brush or foam roller. the first 2 coats were brushed, but you can definitely tell (maybe not in the pic). Will let you know how it comes out today if i get round to the last coat.

I will resort to getting a paint gun and spraying it if i have to...

  5. foam roller looks ok, but a little bumpy.. foam brush is no good- shows brush marks. I'll need to spray it.

  6. 1/2 way done! horseshoes need to in the rear...
i 'm really gonna need some tires

rides great, looks great, thanks Geoff! Wagenswest adjusters on a stock width beam, Wagenswest 3.5inch horseshoes out back.... took it to my buddy's for before and after:

  10. Looks good mate
I've a pair of horse shows waiting to go on the back of mine

  11. Beautiful interior. LOVE that yellow & green plaid! I am so jealous.
About your headrests, they make spray paint for vinyl. You probably have to look online or in professional automotive repair shops for the good stuff and for the best color selection.
I used it on a boat I used to have. The seats were mustard yellow. I sprayed them blue. They looked brand new and you would never have guessed they had been painted.
If you can't find a close enough green for your headrests you can always paint them yellow.

  12. Well, after a run in with fried points, a new electronic ignition, timing, new top and canvas install... took her out for a trial run with the kids:

to this. more welding on the front arch, nearly ready for mud. I have certainly learned 3 things: OG and repro panels are different, how to make a mess with a welder, why I am not paying someone to do the welding (takes a LONG time). note welds are not ground yet, so it should look slightly better when done (not much).

roof rack installed and ready for action:

  13. have noticed my roof does not pop up as easily, so i will swap my old front post/lifter thingy back in.. i guess it's spring loaded??

  14. Check out my hydraulic pop-top thread. Somebody mentioned that the springs inside just get stretched a bit after about 40 years, so he just put washers in the ends as spacers to tighten them back up. He said it really helped a lot. He explains how in the thread.

  17. not much work happening here.. had a starting issue that was sorted with a new fuel filter. Replaced pop top hardware with stainless bits. And just getting out and using it a bit for now.. though no overnights yet.

have been repairing an old Ben Aipa 7'8" T&C board that I picked up real cheap:
    lots of repairs!
    fin broken off...
had to cut some big chunks out due to previous damage..

  18. well, brought home some ikea goods and had the bus riding a bit lower for a trip:

you can just make out where the CV boot has been rubbing the frame and te axle has been notching the frame!

So, I tried some new Gas KYB's - let's hope that causes a few less blows to the axles... funny thing is my bump stops are still there, but i guess they are compressing on impact...

i discovered how hard it was to put the tires back on, so I left the next one on while swapping shocks!

Back end feels much smoother and softer - i was still on original 1978 shocks before!

  19. Stance looks good. Are you still using the stock sized tyres?
