Woolwich killing

  1. There are a lot of "FACTS" in that, would you care to back them up. I don't think that you should make blanket assumptions about whole groups of people, just as you wouldn't like people doing the same about any group that you belong to. Free country and all that, but I think that you are guilty of making the same kind of mistake that extremists make about others.

  2. Any link to a reasonable source predicting that amount of demographic change? It seems rather, how shall I say this, unlikely.

Muslims do inform on other muslims - Raheem Kassam, who runs the Student Rights site, often features articles about extremist preachers on campuses and campaigns to have them banned - unfortunately he gets a lot of flak for it.

Maajid Nawaaz at the Quilliam Foundation also speaks out against extremism and, unlike many, doesn't brush to one side it's basis in islam.

Taj Hargey from the Muslim Educational Centre of Oxford is also willing to speak out without obfuscation.

There are many others - unfortunately all of them get the usual "Uncle Tom" criticism from people who have no interest in the truth and every interest in being seen to be right on.

  6. I can't believe some of the things written on here!

    Amazing!

This is exactly what these nutters want! Us fighting and fearing each other

Making racist calls only *******es your mates off - wrong target!

while I understand all the frustration and desire to hit out at easy targets, doing so makes you as simplistic as the nutters hitting out at anyone that isn't one of them..

Time for a cup of tea people!

  7. I did explain further in the post

I kind of agree - but then not all debates are tea and biscuits on the lawn affairs - some people might be off licking their perceived wounds, who knows!

My conclusion is that people express shock, fear, anger in different ways - some more fervently than others - free speech generates that. There is a difference between thinking certain thoughts and acting on them - thankfully we are allowed to master our own brains and thoughts still.

Also, it's reassuring to see passion - I'd worry about a general malaise - to see that people have taken heed and given it some thought. We are all different, different backgrounds, different current life situations, different educations and conclusions - in the absence of a single belief structure, we are allowed to think freely and our agreed laws govern our deeds - it might be flawed, but there is currently nothing better out there.

Fair play to the mods for letting this one run.

Well i don't know about you but this thread has helped me understand the issues and calm my anger so thanks .

As for terms like Rick used there is no need to hang him yet he is not a racist at all ,outspoken yes but i know him and he wears his heart on his sleeve and puts his finger into gear before his brain sometime's , it's all the porn he watches on those train sites .

Some people have said stuff i found hard to take and others have taken the time to type a sensible answer and others have just spouted the usual crowd appeasing stuff . some of it has been totally predictable but all of it has helped me see things from another perspective .

Yesterday i was angry and shocked , today i am thinking the very thing they wanted they got , video coverage of a barbaric act and news coverage , they were probably brain washed and high on drugs , i feel sorry for people so low on life that they are susceptible to being recruited and brainwashed into this type of savage behaviour , they are probably victims too in the grand scheme of things .

i will never watch the video again , i will not give in to people in my country who want to destroy it with their hatred and misguided belief's and i will not be posting stuff about them and us again , we are all victims in this and need to just move on for all our sakes !

  11. No-one wants to hang Ricky. If you got hung for saying something inappropriate now and again we'd all be swinging from the rafters. Well I would be anyway. Everyone is entitled to a faux pas now and again.

  13. My mate from the Army was a Muslim, He was from Gambia. To put all Muslims in the same category is sooo Wrong.
When we were out in Iraq he was my partner and trusted him with my life, And he did the same, At no point did I ever feel threatened by him! He would do anything for you. And I believe would have risked his life to save yours. But that's how it is!

To put all Muslims in the same category would be Shameful as people like him deserve to be treated like every other person, And in my eyes above some English people!!

  14. oh i miss these threads :)
right first off ricky aint no racist he’s plenty of other things but not that :)
and yeah there are these nutters in every religion that spoil it for everyone but crap like this can’t be tolerated and should be stamped out and fast and the do gooders that say you can’t say this, do that really need to disappear .
they’ve caused this problem everyone knows we go soft on everyone in the uk
a hard line is needed i don’t think shooting them dead is the answer because thats what they want they need to be kept alive but not locked up in some prison watching sky tv
maybe kept in a similar way to how the Taliban keep there prisoners oh we can’t do that can we because of the do gooders !!!!!

Is it ok to call someone a raghead then? Just to clarify.

Also because I challenge offensive or racist words does that make me a do gooder?

rickyrooo1 Hanging round like a bad smell

cheers those defending me, however as i say the term i used - while not appropriate to all is my wording and i don't have to apologise for saying it how i see it, i didn't say the n word or p word or i would have expected a dressing down, nice the mods have let it run and we've all stayed adult about it, i'm agreeing with one of the posters above, the shock and horror made us all react different/wrong but let him without sin cast the first stone, meaning judge me if you've never made a racial joke or passed one on etc, hopefully this thread will calm down now? i certainly won't post in a political/religion/race thread again! now, who's gonna budge up on that fence? room for a fatty?
