Does this put up the value of a 1973 bus tax exempt ?

Is "about 2" not less than 4 in Essex? If I wanted smokes I'd get them free anyway.

  8. No freebies for Hattie yet - built Jan 1975. Sigh.

  9. Checking my M-code it looks like Nellie was probably manufactured in Sept or Oct 1973. She was first registered early 1974 - I'm not at home at the moment, so can't check exact date, but she is an M-Plate.

As the registered date is in 1974 though, it sounds like I will need to apply to get her tax free. Does anyone know what I will need to do? Though Im guessing I will need to wait till next year to do anything. However in the meantime, and to get ready, I read about getting the birth certificate, does anyone have a link/details on how to get one?

    Thanks for any help!

  10. Mine was first registered in 81 apparently... Nothing before that and number plate is x reg... I think it must have been registered somewhere but haven't a clue divas far as I know 81 lol x

  11. Easiest way to tell when it was manufactured (roughly) is with the VIN number. The first number of a bay's VIN is always 2. The second number relates to the body type (microbus, panel van, etc) and the 3rd number relates to the model year. So if the 3rd number is a 3, then it's model year 1973, which ran from August 1972 to June 1973. If its 4, then 1974 (Aug 73 to June 74), 5 is 1975, etc etc.

  12. That'll be the year it was imported... the dvla was a bit pants about giving age related plates in the 70s and 80s!!

As Mr baybirmingham says, 3rd number of the vin will tell you which year of the 70s she was made :)

  13. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

My 3rd Jan 73 was bought from a dealer in the uk, shipped to NZ without being registered here, then shipped back to the UK again 2 years later and registered on a N plate.

If anyone knows the story behind yours it would be the people who had it in 81?

  14. If you read the Budget notes closely, you'll see that all owners of Sage Green busses get free tax, a holiday in Maritius, free beer and 40 Bensons, just for being damn excellent.

You get a hug from George Osbourne as well, but I might skip that.

  15. I think I'd rather pay tax than have to do that. The £220 would be well worth not having to wash myself in bleach afterwards.

  16. Well my Birth Certificate has arrived!!!!
