One things for sure. I’m glad i dont live in the USA. A country where a woman calls the police in fear of her life because a black man asks her to put her dog on a lead. I’m just not so sure that gathering in a huge crowd with thousands of strangers is a socially responsible thing to do when so many citizens are having their freedoms curtailed under lockdown. Anything which risks the virus to circulating more freely and draws out the lockdown Can’t be a good thing at the moment.
I think some things are bigger than a virus that has a 0.28% death rate - equal rights and freedom of speech being two of them. Fair play to the (genuine) protestors for showing solidarity against institutional racism.
now she really is an idiot , I’ve been to that America, my brothers lived there around 30 years , he’s bought a gun as everyone “needs” one , when I’ve been out there I’ve had occasion to be fairly concerned for my safety , in reality there’s nowhere in this country truly like that , the racism isn’t just people of different ethnicity colour etc , they have it state to state , it’s kin ridiculous, been asked to leave “Irish” pubs as we would likely get murdered as the Irish hate English people , blooming idiots
Yeah what a Wally. Canadian. Did you have a read? The oft repeated scenario is white woman had a freak out due to her insecurity, calls cops, cops tend to believe whitey and arrest. African American can't supply bail, gets remanded into a prison sometime for a year or more, looses everything...because nobody videoed it unlike this case. Oop North, Ohio is famous, privately run jails are factories stuffed with African Americans jailed for virtually nowt. There's an ex cop who explains it all better than I could on the Joe Rogan Experience. It's policy, the cops work full time looking for crimes to meets targets. Not much point driving around middle class white suburbs looking for crime, black areas though - easy pickings for possession. Their stop and search are like ours (were). Supposed to write them up and justify, not supposed to full search...but they do, and only bother documenting the "successful" stops, it's human nature to avoid the paperwork and those arrest figures have to be met... Here's a shorter version, the ex cop is quite famous for spilling the beans and has done a lot of media. The Joe Rogan one is much better, but almost 2 hours.
Agree. It's verging on desperate to protest here about police behaviour in the US. And I honestly think celebrities band standing such causes diminishes them. Meanwhile citizens are shooting back at the cops, arguably this is the whole purpose of the right to be armed. What a mess.
Meanwhile, back on track...Some Italian docs are proposing that the Virus is fizzling out as did SARS and MERS. I hope they are right. https://news.sky.com/story/amp/coro...ally-exists-in-italy-top-doctor-says-11998608
I do hope they are right I suppose only time will tell. My youngest goes back to school today Quite worrying for me due to my dicky ticker But I also know it could be quite damaging to her in other ways to not properly finish primary school then go into high school. At least it’s not a town or city school there’s only 8 pupils in her class.
Their second amendment rights expressly state the right to bear arms against the tyranny of government. It came from when Texas declared themselves an independent country. It’s interesting how POTUS is wishing to instigate the national guard and overrule state governors. Texas money is the shadow behind every president....I suspect Trumps pig ignorance might see him gone as they won’t take the national guard on the streets lightly if the shooting starts. Feeds the gun industry though.
I hope so if only to counter an emerging army of high vis vest jobworths who can finally have a reason to order people about like cattle with banal non science. I’ve had to go to a couple of shops where you ‘have to’ take a trolley, if there are two of you, each of you have to have one. I asked politely why and was told it’s in their website and I could always not shop there. That made that shopping trip a short one, and the old t**t literally creamed himself no doubt. It’s not on their website (its a national chain btw). Anyone know why each person has to have a trolley....if there’s a valid reason I’m genuinely interested.
Probably because technically it only requires one person to shop so if you don't push a trolley round you ain't shopping, just wandering around. Having a trolley dots the i's and crosses the t's rather than them having to confront your intended over populating shopping style.
Perhaps to try to enforce a bit of social distancing? It allows you to use it like a cow catcher to shove the doddery old people out of your way and to fend off the ignorant younger people when they get too close
being going to florida since 94 got a lot of friends , sister in law lives there central florida on the east coast consisted of about 100 people marching around a walmarts car park peacefully for an hour shouting a lot and that was it
That kind of makes sense....though the 40mins standing in the queue was a statement of intend I believe. My observation was it also being everyone to a focal point of a couple of hundred trolleys, of which only the handles get cleaned and we all get to touch the anti bacterial bottles. If left to our own devices wouldn’t that make contact points less.... I felt like a right one with one pack of screws in my great big trolley.
A few pics from the Lakes over the past few days. Hopefully it'll quieten down mid month once the shops open up again and people are forced back to work. Every field looks like this near lakes and rivers. Just some of the rubbish picked up. I think the LDNPA say they'd picked up 130 tons at the weekend.
