will be trying everything tomorrow. thank you! now, if someone could run me a gin and pour me a bath, that'd be great!
git! i was going to go shopping tonight but no vehicle and the amount of beer i want/need would no way fit in my panniers!
As for driving it it won't harm the engine but your driving might be slightly jerky. You would be amazed how noisy an engine is at 4000 rpm you just don't feel or notice it at 55mph.
Get some ink to hold the billet bit when you undo the little nut , it might be a bit stiff to start with but your bike skills will know that . Moleeez or Sumat .
A really daft thought - it is 11pm - but you haven't got anything caught under the base of the accelerator pedal? Floor mat? Wholemeal macaroon?
Nope. As I had the mat out to clean when it came off the ramps. It was running high coming off the ramps; mat out, mat back in and still running high. But will check again tomorrow.
I had the same problem with icing on the throttle going up to Glen Coe with Sickboy, I was thinking what the hell.
Yes, if you do try to release cable a bit, hang onto it first with a pair of pliers or some molegrips, otherwise it might well disappear into the tube never to be seen again.
Unlikely but wise, the whole throttle action is a movement of 17mm at the noisy cupboard end. I would go for trying slackening the cable bolt and seeing if the lever pings back as others suggest. When I had wear problems in my carb, I had to stamp on the throttle from time to time to get the butterfly valve in the carburettor to drop fully closed. This all may turn out to be stuff being a bit sticky afer a long disuse .. why not put 3 in 1 / sewing machine oil on all of the bits that move in the throttle linkage in the noisy cupboard. Or if you are feeling all down sarf and want to splash the cash, use some spray oil from Halfords...
