    Enjoyed reading this thread.... particularly @Ermintrude ’s particularly eloquent and reasoned arguments. Not much else to say apart from.....

    It is the reason for my post. A prompter perhaps,for people to stop a mo and think about the implications of casual racial remarks and the consequence of becoming too familiar with throw away comments that hold deeper meaning to some, and like other things that become familiar, need ramping up a bit to stay interesting ( that's worrying).

    I still sincerely believe people are entitled to free speech though, and it is difficult to judge what is just racially motivated and what is a genuine concern about the stifling of free speech by those in power. Your's and baysearcher's debate was interesting on that point.
