Type 4 fuel injection issues - please help

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by The Little Camper Company, Mar 2, 2017.

  1. Yes it's stays running

The only part on the engine which isn't new is the air temp sensor under the intake manifold.

  2. Have you go the AFC fuel injection trouble shooting manual? Worth following yaht to prove the injectors are working etc etc. It also gives ways to test every part and all you really need is a multimeter.

Also worth disconnecting the cold start valve and thermo temp sensor circuit to see if that is affecting things.

Check for air leaks and all vac hoses being connected up properly

    Have you checked the fuel
Pressure? Could be excess fuel pressure, I wouldn't assume that as it's all "new" that it's good,

  4. I did check the fuel pressure and it was all ok, around 27psi so according to the specs it's ok

Could it be the air temp sensor?

  5. So all vac lines and pipes checked, no issues. Timing checked and bang on.......still cuts out after the choke has stopped. Anyone got any carbs

  6. Oh and the fuel pressure is all ok

  9. Don't go carbs, stick with it. It'll be something simple in the end.

  14. Good idea, would be good to do some FI troubleshooting to show what can be done to fix FI.

  15. When and where?

  19. Put a points distributor in.get rid of the crappuspark ..
    Find a used AFM.
buy a new temperature sender 2 for the head .
Make well sure that the valves are adjusted properly.
Or waste the same amount of money on a mechanic,

The whole system is triggered from the distributor so going back to an original one with points makes a lot of sense. I ran mine ok from an original dizzy fitted with a petronix kit though. It's often simple once you find the fault. Don't be too diss heartened. Look at a Bentley manual or find a trusted old school mechanic. Having been through many separate issues myself I eventually fitted a pair of dellorto Darla's about 8 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. That's just my opinion.
