  1. Technically you're supposed to drive to your nearest MOT test station... I'd guess it all depends on how much of a jobsworth the copper is if you got stopped!!

My local MOT place is like a half mile from my house, so not really an issue for me!!

  2. Do you have to pay for a tax disc then? ;)
That's novel, they send me mine 1st class post for free! :D

  3. We live in an age of choice - within reason. I have booked MOTs in the past in my choice of test centre - but it wasn't the one closest to me. I didn't have a problem - but then I didn't use the motorway network to get there.

Donkeys years ago, father-in-law found a new tax disc in the street, so gently scratched out the vehicle details, and got 3 new tax disc holders for his cars, wrote the car details on the plastic and just swapped the blank disc over to whichever was being used, for a year...:) Absolutely disgraceful behaviour I say..;)

  13. Been caught for no tax years ago , they didnt have crushers then , i got a fine , the thing was though i was on way to tax the bugger ,

or you could claim to be a do as you likey , they dont have tax , insurance or manners

  14. Except the paper disc is all but redundant these days. Cops don't even bother looking at them anymore, they just rely upon the DVLA database.

They're actually talking about abolishing them because it'll save them some money now it's all online.

^ thats the most sensible thing theyve done in ages!

Our postman lost two of my tax discs within two days' despatch from the DVLA!!
