Yes, 1700 heads needs machining for 1800+ cylinders. The best start point are 1800 heads p/n 021.101.371S, these have 41mm intake and 34mm exhaust valves but they’re hard to find and used are very often cracked – that’s why they’re being sold.

  3. The valves don't go there, You'll get no compression on that! :)

  4. Stateside can sort out new amc heads, and machine them to valve sizes to 34 and 41 etc

AA products in the good ol USA are listing 42 x 36 valves heads - AMC? We've no complaints of AMC ones, looked OK when we fitted them last year :)

  6. Yeah, but at $1735 + post + duty + vat, surely a re machined AMC head would work out cheaper or at least the same? and less hassle? I had a couple from Stateside for my 1911 and that was a lovely engine (I just cant remember how much they cost along with all the other work).

  7. Stateside are 700+vat for 44/38 so yes they look cheaper - AA are AMC casting too btw.

  9. Standard CU bottom end with 2056cc b&p's, with standard heads and carbs BUT its auto. Pulls like a train, can be funny away from traffic lights have surprised a few;). Hills no problem, just come back from a long weekend in Porlock. Up the infamous 1 in 4 A39 a few times, no problems at all. Happy on the M5 at 65mph, topped the big hill at Bristol at 60mph and fuel returns are not that bad either, but don't ask for figures:oops: I just love driving the thing :D:D

Accelerate like a plane ....would be a good one !

I've been on plenty of trains and can't see the comparison ?
