  3. @masterjedi What is the spec on yours? Heads, cam, carbs etc. Looked at your build thread but couldn't see that info. Did you get it dyno'd?

Anybody got a type 4 127 1800. Mine pulls like a train. It was a factory crated cold war spare. Apparently has the desired 41mm 34mm heads with 40 solex carbs. Only done about 7k miles since fitted. It's best at 65/70 mph pulling in and out of the HGV stuff. Can get to 80 without me knowing.....but back off and settle down gently. It has a full westy continental layout and the occasional roof tent when fully laden. I can move easily with the traffic and don't really stress other road users.:)

Because 2056 is simply a B&P change, the bottom end stays original. The 2257 you linked to is 96mm B&P and a 78mm stroke crank. Zeds engine has a standard bottom end but the crankcase is machined for 104/5mm B&P (I can’t remember if they’re 104mm (2413cc) or 105mm (2459cc)).

I haven’t got around to building it yet but I have most of the parts for my next engine: 2316cc, 96mm B&P, 80mm crank, H section rods. C25 Scat cam, 1800 heads with 41 x34 valves, Weber 40 IDF carbs, and a CSP python exhaust.

Those exhausts are designed for racing. To use on the road there are a choice of three cone inserts to fit in the collector to speed up the gas flow at £45 each. The makers won't help you here, they advise experimenting on a rolling road. At this point I decided not to go this route - why spend on an exhaust that's so free flowing it has to be throttled to make it work on the road and looks like another £500 on parts a RR time?

  7. ok, makes sense, thanks. learning every day :)

what are you aiming for with that engine spec, torque/power wise?

I know; they’re €29 each not £45. I’m using 38mm heat exchangers and the smaller diameter of the Python exhausts available, 42mm – it works well without the cone inserts on my current 2.0l with 1800 heads and a C25 cam and the exhaust velocity should be okay with a 2.3l, I’m not using big valves and the cam is mild.

  10. I am happy with my 116hp 2056 motor, just been down to Croatia in it and believe me it was loaded!
it is nice to have the extra ponies but it is nice to take it easy and enjoy the ride,my cruising speeds are 60 to 70 mph which suit me fine.
If you do a build keep it simple! I'm using stock rockers but different pushrods, very quiet and torquey motor.

  11. It's a nice 2056 for sale at the the late bay on facebook atm.2000 pound.

  12. Did you do anything about the induction roar yet? My 2056 is much quieter than the 1911. The cam is milder, but the throttle bodies and filter housings are heavier and cast aluminium filter housings probably make a big difference over the thin tinny parts fitted to the carbs.

Lean is noisy, rich is quiet. :)

  14. Induction roar hasnt been fixed yet,i have put up sound insulation and that has helped alot.
I cant justify spending too much on the camper at the moment,im jobless so things are tight!

  17. Ive been trying to slow down and go at a steady 65 on the clock on a run. It seems happy there buti possibly need bigger return springs on the carbs to achieve it. Heavy feet!

  18. Motorways in the summer at weekends are slower and worse than some b roads , especially m25 which has 4 lanes and speed calming /restrictions everywhere o_O jams everywhere. Just done 400 miles and most of the time i couldnt do anywhere near the speed limit anywhere anyway so imo your waisting your money in this country , go to germany n take on the f1 boys if you wana a thrill , it wont just be your engine you need to up grade brakes suspension and wallet. Buy a bludee sports car or a helicopter if you wana go quicker init .
