Interesting I haven't heard of these two cars but Crawford did conversions on both the mark 1 and 2 lotus which are rare one is still on the road and believe it or not the owner lives in Barnsley ( picture if you see it please @crossy2112 ) rarer still is a Crawford mark 2 savage I've never seen one either at a show or magazine, one problem fitting a V8 was " leg walk" the weight of the V8 was too much for the front struts which had to be braced ( frame across engine bay) so that's why ford opted for the lighter V6 incidentally a true savage is extremely rare in the last 10 years I think I've seen one
My mate was a Corsair fan they really didn't do it for me but a Crayford Corsair now that's different, that would be worth a fortune now Rich
Virtually none around these days, not that they built that many. The used car place in Poole couldn’t shift the damn thing - was always still in the window for months. Not sure if Crayford put the Essex V6 in it.
I'll ask around Bazza, I remember somebody having something similar but there was a lot of badly done copies knocking about.
My first car, Mark 1 Polo, as old as me at 17. 0.795litres of pure slow! From that to this Inherited from my mum when she died, she loved fast cars, and it went like marmite off a shiny shovel!
We used to have a little Polo Ranger, like a mini estate car. Great little car. I scrapped it, like an idiot.
Great little cars indeed! It ran and ran, Weekly trips from Southampton to Birmingham to maintain a long distance relationship with my now wife. I sold mine for £20 without an MOT, to an idiot who drove it illegally for a fortnight before it blew up.
I could kick myself for getting rid of it. Tough as old boots. Years ago, we just kicked the tyres and drove it off to Munich. Never missed a beat. Only drama ever was when the headlight switch decided to catch fire (cause unknown).
Mine had a leak in the petrol tank, but being a 17 year old idiot, I didn’t fix it, I’d fill up in Southampton, by the time I got to Birmingham and parked with 2 wheels on the curb, the petrol would be below the level of the hole
I was so close to getting a new one but bought a twist and go 50cc et50 instead. The bloke who owned the shop said he was keeping one for an investment and I should do the same. Hindsight.
