  4. please please please , ( you haven't got any kick panels on yet have you ) get a torch tomorrow , get on your hands and knees on the cab floor and see what you can find ........ it could possibly be one of the screws that is holding the hand brake assembly in place ... or something that is not related in any way....either way , whatever you find get a picture up and lets have a game of guess what the part is....it'll soon be sorted ;)
myself and many of the guys on here have had their dash and handbrakes in bits so someone will recognise it.....were the wipers on?
    cheers

  5. Thank you Bertie78,

  6. keep them toes on the footbrake ...just in case....have a great day :)

  7. 130k isn't too bad... always worth a health check though (comp test)

Another thing to check is that you're getting full throttle!!

  8. glad I'm not the only one on that wagon

  9. My 2ltr is happiest at 65mph on the motorway, have been faster but it gets too scary especially if there's a crosswind.
Speed does drop down to mid forties on some of the steeper motorway inclines, perhaps it needs a tune up :thinking

  11. I suppose technically I'm driving at 65 as my speedo isn't quite right but I cruise along at 70 (on my speedo) had it up to 85 at one point. You lot saying its scary at that speed need to man up. Get yourself a tacho and drive at 3500k your bus will love you for it.

  12. Our Maggie's 1600 TP is happiest at 55-60mph :)

  13.
  14. 90MPH after having the carbs re jetted and set up on a rolling road. Now do a more sensible 60 everywhere

  15. what a lot of people forget is these vans are what white van man drove 40 years ago

he didn't pootle along at 50 and stop every 5 miles to let the engine cool down

  16. ^^ This. These vans are meant to be driven not molly collard

  17.
  18. Yeah but this was 40 years ago!

    I shall Mollycoddle Molly all I want x :p

  19. After we had a new Vega 1800 engine fitted we went to France (holiday) and did 45mph for the first 1200 miles, then 50-55mph for the next 300 miles. Now I'm happy to do 50-60mph, but no more as trying to stop and corner at those kinda speeds aint safe. So 60 for us.

  20. My 2.4 type four with cog box gearbox will pull over 100mph on the sat nav gps. The second choke on the carbs doesn't open until about 70 in fourth and the engine really comes on song at eighty! I don't drive at these speeds however as it returns about 12 mpg at high speed!
