  2. to day the new replacement hub cap clips arrived , we didnt have the tool to fitt them with factory rivets , so we used standard rivets . i let colm do this as it was his first time using one , another bit of experience ,
he also stripped the front hubs and brakes and rebuilt them with all new parts for the first time on his OWN , just shows he was watching and listening ,
    we then refitted the wheels

  12. well today i sanded down one side of the body with 120 10 80 discs to get the ole paint and primer of back to the gel coat , which is in fair shape .
i tracked out the cracks using the grinder and 1 mm disc, and there was plenty to do lol .
then filled up the cracks and surrounding areas ,
i the cut the support bar that holds the petrol tank in , am going to modify this so the tank can come in and out , its a ***** the
    why it is now ,
and it needs a good flush out and painted , also took of the front indicators and broke one rear light taking it out was changing them anyway lol DOH

  15. Those onion boards are worth there asking price:thumbsup:

I know the effort your going through with that shell dude
I used to fit and repair a lot of fiberglass bodykits on a regular basis and the time and effort that needs to go into them never shows on the finished product

If it was a crack id use glass fibre mat and resin
If it was a deep gouge id use a mix of upol easy sand and chopped fibre resin
Most often id end up 80 gritting the whole lot then slapping on upol easy sand and blocking and papering the lot by hand

It used to ******* me right off when i spent a week doing that and getting parts painted in time for the sat night racing
Then sunday afternoon they would pitch back up after losing the bottom of the front bumper and cracking the side skirts

The money was good as a second earner but it tought me to hate prepping bodywork

  16. i no where you r coming from para , by the way WHATS THE CRACK HOWS THE FORM . i ve started sanding the small areas of filler as i run out of 80 100 120 da discs to remove the paint on the ps side , like u say its a pig of a job but someone has to do it , it will be worth it in the end , at least i dont have to spend time WELDING IT LOL owen nw

  17. spent 4 hours sanding the ps it seemed to be harder than the ds .
then skimmed up the bits here too only this side needed very little , to day should see the last of the filling well hopefully lol
what a big difference owen nw

about 4 inches in from thr front panel on the flat of the bonnet, they was a ridge in the mould but not on the ps , so i leveled it out , again made a big difference

  18. I love the shape of the mantaray shell. They are even cooler with a corvair engine in the tail though.;)

  19. well to day finished the last of the rubbing and filling , and 3 coats of high build primer 2k , 2 parts primer 1 part activator and 10 mm of rocket ,
turned out very well now with the primer i can see some bits that need stoppering , which will be done when the primer is fully flattened , agin top tip £5 blender from tesco s is great fro mixing paint ESPECIALLY 2K PRIMER THAT SINKS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TIN , THE BLENDER MIXES IT ALL UP SO ITS NICE AND THICK , OWEN NW
