tiny and stephen get there first project and its a 20 millionth edition

as tiny is alway with me , in the garage or out looking at cars at shows it was there turn to have a car , tiny is 4 and stephen is 8 , now school has finished for the holidays , wher going to crack on at it , some members of our local club have given them some parts to get them started , so start we did , owen nw tiny stephen ,
ino its not a CAMPER , but its another air cooled vw , owen nw

£500 for the car has full set of new alloys and tyres , it was once voted ireland loudiest car , as it was full of thump thump stuff ,

the stripp down begins with the hepl of big brother colm and ELMO , colm got one 2 a few years ago but his was a porsche 914 ,




front wings are in great shape , back wings have some rust which would sand blast but one of our members in n ireland AUSTIN IN COALISLAND donated 2 new back wings and lights sto the boys
,


with the lower inner wings cut out all the bolts look good so a good splash of bronix oil they would screw out easy ,

door posts are shot and will be replaced new , but first that ole job of getting the screws out with the aid of an impact driver and plenty of swearing ,

all but 2 bolts screwed out , so i split opened the end of the sill and welded the capitive nut back on as it had ripped of , the screw then came out ,

for tiny we would screw out a few bolts grease them put them back in a nd tell tiny to take them out lol


some dodgy looking patching in the corners , which will be ripped out ,

we are waiting for new heater channels coming i already have new door posts , so at the minute we are drilling spot welds , and cut 3 barrs for bracing the body , and will be splitting the heater to weld the capitive nuts and paint like what zeeb showed in his post bare metal in side , owen wn tiny stephen

 

Ahhh stop it Owen, all these beetle projects is really making me want one

Good stuff though mate, i wish i could have spent my school holidays with a welder in hand

 

well i want them to learn a bit about cars , and if they are in the yard with me , ie the 16 year old , and the younger boys, it take the p of edele , and they are not up to anti social behavior , and they are i hope enjoying it , i no TINYS REALLY DOES , what i done with each of them is get a very cheap project , let them work on it with me , then sell it and i PUT THE MONEY in the credit union in there own accounts until they are 18 , so each gets a we start in life , and i get to spend time with them , owen nw

I loved going to work with my dad helping out in school hols etc
I plan to do the same once the camper is finish with my 3 kids.............well thats what i'm telling the wife >

to day we got the last of the heater channel of , cut out the end plates , drilled out the bumper hangers , ithought i would get away with the rear panel but it s not great so on witha new one , when i get him one , both hangres now on and repairs to the side trays , door poat of AN D NEW ones painted inside and copper greased owen wn tiny stephen

You're cracking on with that, Owen, it'll be finished in no time!

Any further thoughts on the colour? When you first posted I thought it was a Last Edition beetle, but did you say something about it being a mexibug?

to day i spent my time drilling and cutting out the rot ie heater channel door post ds b post , and the dodgey welding on the end of the heater channel , and managed to cut the loom in half as i forget to move it lol owen nw tiny stephen
