  1. image.jpg image.jpg Restarted my aborted attempt at an interior. Given my self a difficult spec so decided to keep it as simple as possiblr and utilise timber i had. Ie mock up and use then get it done properly later by a man that can. Looks dead simple but wanted removeable cooker, fridge, sink, retain full width bed. Cupboard to put the bog in and still be able to swivel both seats. Got this far, taken me ages!

  5. Finally painted my Epoxy-121'd gutters with Rustoleum. Unfortunately, the Flowering Cherry tree under which my van is parked spotted me opening the tin and started shedding leaves and all sorts, so a few crunchy bits included. Worked well tho' - I luuurve Rustoleum - I defy it to rust, ever.

Thanks. Im not exactly fantastic at wood bothering but if i can get it how i want it and it can last a few trips to work iut if its ok for our needs then that will suffice. That said, as soon as you move onto the next bit you actually become less subjective and the previous cock up you made is less relevant or noticeable.

Ive used bits salvaged fron the previous interior but the cooker and sink are new some of the ply and the cooker lid is salvaged.

Fitted a new strap to the alternator as the previous one had sheared off. Took it round the block to get some lemonade, first time driving for a few weeks.

Was wondering what to do my gutters with eventually, so I'm thinking that you would recommend Rustoleum then?!
Does it cause the same problems as Hammerite if you ever come to spray on top? ( I was told Hammerite doesn't play well with other paints, but no experience of this myself) or is it a different rust busting formula?

  11. I'd avoid Hammerite. Rustoleum's enamel, so might react with other paint later, but it's excellent for brushing on obscure bits. Goes straight on over EpoxyMastic. Can be mixed to correct VW colours.

  12. I can't say mine looked like they were anodised from new, but if they were any protection was long gone as mine were at least as ropey as @Johnluke666's. One they're polished, they just go to a matt finish again as long as you keep them clean.

  14. For the first time since last October:

Unplugged the ctek from the battery, removed the cover, took the van into the MOT station, crossed fingers...

Passed, no minors only comments was 'that bus is in better condition than most 5 year old cars I see through here'.

    :)

    Happy days.

BTW, hello everyone - been a while!

  18. How do, how's things with you?

  19. Took to garage, carbs still not playing Weber 34 ICT's - turns out that the floats have sunk! Eurocarb apparently had a 'faulty batch' where they'd used some sort of polystyrene floats and have had a lot returned. Replacements on their way for tomorrow! Honestly, I wish this van would just WORK!
