Fitted a new roller to the bottom of the sliding door as the old one was wobbly and worn. Needed a blowtorch to loosen the bearing.

Drove through some deep nearside surface water at 65 mph and nearly pulled my arms off holding the bus on the road. Somebody was overtaking me at the time so couldnt suddenly switch lane in advance to avoid it.
Said something rude but made it without hitting the kerb or the central reservation as we popped out the other side with the wheel turned about 20 degrees right to keep going straight.

  3. Fitted new HD rollbar, not got the clips on yet as it is *******ing down now!
Also picked up manifolds for the Dell's with the servo take off

  4. Took it out to fill it up with fuel and a short drive and give it a wash for the first time this year! :) sat in back now tiding it up as I am going to start using it for work now :D

Took the sliding door off to take a look at the rot. Not too bad after all! Ordered some repair panels to crop out the worst bits and have a stab at welding some new bits in.

  7. Bit of an overkill with the servo pipes there

You only need to port one

  8. That doesent look too bad at all dude good luck with the welding

  9. Maybe.... But better safe than sorry, didn't want the barrel with the take off running lean,
Least this way all four will be balanced, I took the advice of Mr Levic, he did the welding

  10. Sanding, sanding, more sanding, and more sanding.... Will it ever end... I got so bored at one point I started to sand in random places to make faces

  11. Fitted a new wire liner to my MIG and made sure everything was in shape so that when (if) the weather picks up I can make a start...

  12. I was driving through sunny Greenwich last week and the clutch biting point suddenly dropped an inch, as it did this there was a metallic ping.....hmmmm I thought, not a good situation being a few miles from home, and lots of traffic lights and numptys to avoid:rolleyes:. So not relishing the thought of clutchless motoring I headed home via a local VW parts supplier to pick up a clutch cable, as I guessed the cable had stretched a bit and maybe the bolt holding the end of the cable had corroded and tightened and then suddenly slipped ?
After getting home and removing the cable ,I found out I was a bit wrong , the cable had almost snapped, held on by a few strands....phew...lucky. The piece of cable conduit emerging at the rear, that connects to the bowden tube had broken off....then the clutch cable happily sawed itself to oblivion, looks like it had been broken a long time judging by the grime over it.....it looked fine from the outside before I removed the cable, then fell apart as the tension from the cable was released.
So I needed to get it welded, can't be having my daily driver off the road...but three days of work and rain got in the way, it's not good to weld in damp places, people die from such things, Luckily I was working within walking distance last week and it was dry today so all welded up and rolling once again.:)

  13. Only cleaned the outside today - couldn't be bothered to do anything else. Think i'll empty her out and have a tidy up if its not too cold and wet tomorrow.

  14. Went out and bought new oil and filter so I can do a change tomorrow.

  17. It's been dry and bright and I was feeling fit enough for a bit of tinkering so I wrapped up warm and went and said hello to Kermit.
Fitted a new Stovepipe and begun to 'plumb' in the standard air filter, just a need to sort out the fuel tank breather pipes which is going to need a bit of breather tube and some kind of connector to the box.
Also fitted some hose seals around the cardboard air hoses.

  18. I've driven it in the sunshine and slight sprinkling of snow. It was brilliant

  19. Used it for work again and tuned up the carb, checked the timing and changed a bit of fuel pipe that had been weeping :) it drives soo much better just needs abit of a tweak and it should be spot on :)
