  3. Couple of things done this evening

Did the valve clearance, will do again when the engine is back in and hopefully running

Added the inlet manifolds, fuel injectors and pipes with all new hoses

Spark plus in with the thermocouples for the cht gauge.

Temporarily put in the ht leads

Picking up the fan shroud on Thursday morning.

Hoping to get the engine back together over the weekend and back in weekend after.

Noticed I'm missing a pair of carb/spacer gaskets so made a cardboard pair for now. I've had the carbs off while I've been here so I can't think where then can have gone.

  8. Replaced my european schuko inlet with a british one! ( made in China but at least its a BS one for the blue plugs and means i dont need to use my conversion lead any more.)

  9. had an arse dropping moment in the garage, stripping replacement engine. popped the barrels off and checked rod side clearance at 0.11 and then the endfloat at 1mm,,s*** I thought it was knackered. I then relised I had loosened the flywheel making it look worse. tightened it up and its within tolerance but I will do it correctly when I rebuild it, looking like its just new pistons and barrels when I get some pocket money.........

Just finished griding and countersinking rocker arms and checking free movement of elephant feet rockers... Thinks it's just installing and plumbing go juice system and sparky bits to test it at weekend all being well! Unless I find any more bits are missing!

  14. Yesterday I had a busy day, with a bit (lot) of help from sandybay Bob.

He helped me do some adaptations to one of the units in my van to make it a bit more useable

Firstly a new drawer where I had a hole

He also had to remake to bottom of the bit the drawers slide into.

Then we remade the back of the unit so I don't lose all my important camping equipment** down the back and made a shelf to go inside

And moved the door hinges so it's side hinged now, rather than at the bottom.

Then, after much head scratching and a delicious bolognaise, thanks Jan, we made a flip up table for the side

While I was there and Bob was doing all the technical wood stuff, I had a little play with the big sewing machine, thanks @zedders and made a new over carpet/ rug thing

    Practice first

    Then for real

I've had an absolutely lovely couple of days tinkering and hanging out with some friends, taa muchly.

** bubble wands, toys, silly cups etc

Despite what he says I'm not mad we had to share a beer the other night, or that I didn't get bananas and custard ;)

@Beaver Safe journey home. It was a pleasure having you stop here. I've still got your custard on top of the fridge, still got your two pints of milk in the fridge and your roll of masking tape in the garage, ta very much.

Now put a picture up of the front of the new drawer rather than the back and also the 'proper' front of the drawer unit. :)

Enjoy the custard for me, and the milk. I think the masking tape came out of the box of bits for the sewing machine

  17. Have you made a removal camping unit? I like it

  18. Guess how far I got before that blinking cupboard door catch let go? Despite me wedging the big box unit against it.

I'm going to order a new catch tonight and be done with it
