Good to hear. I grew up (not mentally) about 10 miles from there. Used to watch Eastbourne Eagles speedway near Alfriston every Sunday too.

That’s exactly what I was looking at. Ironically I was minutes away from Heathfield where they’re based at the time, had I only known it then.

Today filled up with petrol in Hotwells and a spring fell out of door as I got out.
It was from the throttle pedal linkage, so drove the bus back to the campsite expecting the throttle to stop working. It did not. So I spent 5 minutes collecting bits from under the pedal and clipping them together again.

Its all the flooring it either to go up hills or pulling out in front of people on the A38....

Saw somebody lugging a Westy bay up a hill on the A370 going the other way could hear the separate pulses from the exhaust as it crested the hill.... I waved , they looked flustered , the bloke driving was bright red and fixated on the hill... going down a gear would have been kinder.

After a 65 mile journey home yesterday. We had a day tidying up some of the worst bits and making the old wheels look a bit better.

Waiting for Tuesday to collect the new front panel and out comes the grinder and welder.

aAs it was at Dan's when he had the front arch done.

Fair bit to do, but she's roadworthy and drives well enough for now.

Thank you. I never have my picture taken next to the boys these days. I look so old compared to them and their youthful looks.

They must take after their mum btw. ;)

  11. Spent the weekend helping out at Cub Camp. Brilliant time messing about in boats and canoes on a small lake. I had the best bed on site![IMG]

  14. So, we've just finished a marvelous 1000+ mile round trip from North London to VolksFling in Biggar, on to Lenzie, then round the coast of Dumfries & Galloway, then back home via Crosby. All went well, except that Harvey went through a full sump of oil, most of which seem'd to block up the RHS carb's air filter (which knocked engine performance onto touch)...:(

So yesterday saw me start to strip the motor to fit a new set of piston rings (which I've known he needs from day 1!).

My next challenge will be to work out how to actually drop the engine! I parked Harvey on a pair or ramps to raise the back up & help with access....and it really does!...but now the motor is way above the reach of my trolley jack! I'll see if my neighbour will lend me his motor bike lift for a short while...else it will be on to plan B...

I'm not planning any major updates...just the rings (and maybe a replacement barrel/piston of necessary) and a proper clean & paint of the engine bay & tinware. I'll then get the carbs professionally set up.

    cheers

You could either get a 4x4 jack or do it the Jenga way with a stack of wood ..

Today I refitted new Allen head bolts to the new offside CV joints. About £6.00 for 30 high tensile M8x45 boltson eBay (M8x50 might have been better but the one I removed and measured was a bit shorter than some. Even the 45mm bolts go in at least 6 threads. Then replaced the boots on the nearside joints and torqued them all up.

En route discovered the two tinware screws forward of No.1 cylinder were lying around and the tinware was rattling about. Although it might have ended up a long job, I clamped the tinware with the screw holes lined up, taped each screw in turn to a long screwdriver and they went straight in blind. I could even find the slots by feel and tighten them properly.

  17. After joining my MG buddies at a show in Lytham on Sunday , I got my replacement engine lid (OG prototype bay one) from the paint shop today and now getting it ready to put on in place of the crappy one that a PO fitted - late bay repro one with the hook type hinges cut off and cupboard hinge fitted with bolts.

  18. I was hoping my neighbour & Bike Nut might have a bike lift I could borrow....no joy, so Jenga it is, then!

  19. So...plan B..Jenga.. worked & the engine is out and ready to be introduced to Mr Kärcher...

However, car ramps are really too tall for a stock height bus and a normal lift trolley Jack...
