  1. Too hot in the garage for painting the emergency filler bodge under the roof sill and below the sliding door, so I built this instead!

Not able to test fit it on the van yet, so not 100% sure it will fit under the garage door without dropping the rear end...

  2. Adjusted clutch as new cable stretched very quickly !! Fitted new throttle cable, fitted new leisure battery, changed oil sender as I thought it was leaking, I think it may have been loose though but replaced for a working second hand one.

  3. Just wondering what your symptoms where on the stretched clutch cable?
I've done about 1k miles after fitting a new cable and reverse has now decided to grind when trying trying to select, all other gears are fine up and down?

  4. Took my youngest daughter and 4 friends to their Prom last Friday. I think I enjoyed the vehicle show n shine as much as they enjoyed the Prom!

  5. Its done 20 miles and the biting point had moved half way down the pedal travel

Mine did this too recently.... started with a biting point about half way up the pedal and ended up right at the bottom within a fortnight. The van was going back in for it's MOT so the guys tweaked it... now it's at the top of the pedal and keeps catching me out as I rev the nipples off the poor van! I'm expecting a bit more stretch to get it back to the middle of the pedal where it should be!

  8. Hope it doesn't stretch much more as there won't be enough adjustment

That's one reason I gave it back to the garage to fix... I thought exactly the same when I tried to adjust it. They have managed to get the biting point from the bottom to the top of the pedal somehow.

Somebody was talking about washers and shins the other day when setting up theirs, which would make sense.

It's a very long cable compared to most clutch cables so I guess it has a lot of scope to stretch

  10. Or made badly? The washers idea is ok but the adjustment nut is square and fits in a square hole so it can't undo. Washers will stop that idea. ?????

Drove back from a rather lovely time camping by the beach in Cornwall (well, that was yesterday to be truthful), tipping in at a not too shabby 22.5mpg and a maximum oil temp on the dipstick sender of 115 degrees in the hot sunshine at 60 mph; and then took it for it's MOT today.... woo hoo, we passed!
An advisory for a small oil leak (it's a 44 year old engine! And there's about 2 drips ); the handbrake could use a bit of adjustment (compared to a modern car, yes it probably could), and a couple of tiny holes in the outer sill under the sliding door (which was supposed to have been replaced less than 18 months ago, but I now wonder that it might just have been filled and painted over )
All in all, not so bad.

new fuel line arrived so re-did the breather pipes even though the old ones hadn't perished.
also drilled a couple of holes for new fuel pipe and electrics for the fuel pump and isolation valve

  18. Replaced my voltage regulator with a spare, after the original took early retirement after being asked to charge two batteries at the same time.

Faffed in the passenger door trial-fitting a central locking motor. Think I've got it cracked. Remembered how much I hate the cab door locks.
