Fitted three front suspension ball joints. Who needs a gym membership ?
By the end I could barely move the hacksaw when making the three cuts in the wreckage of the ball joint after I ground the top off and pushed the ball out the top of each .
And whyyyyy is the press tool so heavy and it keeps falling off and bits roll off under the bus?

Originally thought I would try this at Techenders but I am glad I didn't as the rattle gun is a bit too big for my inverter although the angle grinder might just have buzzed to life.

Found a disintegrated roller in the offside front wheel bearing - its starting to spin the race on the stub axle and make the grease go brown as the bits of roller start chewing things up so now I have got to fix that before techenders. So its off to GSF tomorrow if they are open..

And one of the brake hose clip things rusted away and I banged my head hit my hand with a hammer and punched things with.my hand on the hacksaw...

Strangely I am happy because that's another VW achievement I don't have to do again for a while..:D

Replaced front wheel outer bearing with a cheapie from GSF. They did not have the "best quality" ones in stock. There's another job I expect to do again.
1 hour 15 minutes from start to end of job.

Polished it up, stocked the fridge, and took some friends for a very British picnic on the New Forest

It is the British way... It's Easter weekend therefore we must have a picnic, park the van, and sit in a deck chair beside it, huddled over a mug of hot chocolate!

Looked in the engine bay to see about installing a home made crank trigger wheel (1mm thick magnets epoxied into shallow pits drilled into £4 second hand aluminium crank pulley I bought at Volksworld sans paint markings for the degrees).
Noticed the hybrid alternator pulley was looking funny - the OG hub being chewed by the Taiwanese chrome pulley top (it relies on drive through the flats on the hub rather than tangs on the pulley top) and lots of black dust from the belt ..
. So I refitted the original alternator pulley once I found it hiding on a dynamo I had lying around, and then after a bit of tinware bashing, I got the aluminium crank pulley fitted (Crank case pressurisation spirals go the right way ) .
Now the alternator stops rattling because the aluminium pulley is the only one I have which runs true . All the others have got bent while others have tried to remove them in the past.
Started making a bracket for the Hall effect sensor raided from a very old PC fan.
