I've had a couple of fags, But haven't bought any. Electric fag is taking a bit of a battering, but hey ho, I'm still determined. and so far I've saved over £100 now if only I knew where it was!
Im doing well, now over a week since I touched one. Really struggling at the moment though, in San Francisco with work, serious jet lag is really making me want one..... I think its just normally if I would feel sleepy at work I'd go out for a cig to 'wake up'. I know though that if I can get through this week, I'll have cracked it and then it will only be own stupidity that would make me smoke again.
Well done mate, 23 days is really good going. Yep, going well mate, started not to think about it now. Finding myself thinking that I've not even noticed I havent wanted a cig today which is always good. I'm guessing by the lack of updates on this thread not everyone is managing.....
I'm not starting again. Every time I've stopped before its been because I thought I should, and its been a nightmare. This time I just decided I didn't like it anymore, and it's been easy!
Still going, though reliance on the electric fag is there now but nothing like the 20 a day habit of real smoking.
Well done everybody. My dad gave up when he was 28. He's now 84 and still wants a smoke when he sees anyone smoking. Sorry. I stopped weekend before last when I was in hospital and morphined off my head. Didn't miss it one little bit. I should have carried on, but for some stupid reason I just smoked as soon as I got home and carried on. A couple of my friends are giving up using the drug "Champix". It's an anti-depressent that fills up your nicotine receptors. You take it and smoke for 10 days, then stop smoking but keep taking the drug for a few weeks/months to fill up the rest of them. If you smoke it does nowt nicotine-wise as your receptors are already clogged up. They had last cigs about a week ago and report back that it's a doddle so far. Like everyone else they've tried and failed numerous times before. I think I might give it a go. Anyone else here tried it?
Been shouted about at work too Zed, its the same as any other type of quitting aid though, if you still want to smoke, you will. I am lucky now in that like Doug above I decided I dont like it, and dont want to smoke any more, even made going cold turkey easy (ish)....
I have also decided. I've done cold turkey before + various rip-off so-called nicotine replacement therapy things that cost more than smoking. Cold turkey was best for me, but the ex was selfishly unsupportive. This sounds like cold turkey without the cravings, just the "habit" part to deal with. It's been repeated many times already on this thread, but you have to want to give up for yourself Ricky, not just because you feel guilty smoking.
I'd heard one of possible side effects of Champix was depression so thought it best not to go down that route.
Still in the game. Saved lots of money during stoptober so I'll be able to buy 500 fags on the 1st of november..... Or perhaps I won't bother
