Excellent. I'll be re-fitting my roof cap over the next couple of weeks so will know if the standard ones are strong enough. If they are I'll have some, if not I'll be looking for some stronger ones!
Ok, I've had a look at mine and the rear seems to be the same size as the sides. I'll put a definite order in for three, not too bothered if they're stainless or not as they don't actually get that wet and are easy to protect with WD40 or the like.
Could be interested in a set, will get the roof up over the weekend and see if they are the same. Cheers
Ok guys, I'll send off the sample and get a confirmed price for galvanized and stainless. I'll also confirm if there is a minimum order for each, although they do advertise they will make a single spring. A set on my roof is 6, just so we are clear I'll have to check my roof again as @sANDYbAY 's spring end looks different to what I have.
My springs aren't original, some stupid person smashed the whole top off on a height barrier and they were all remade as a best guess.
My springs seem ok, I've had to replace a roller though. I have plastic tubing round my springs is that original? They could do with being replaced. Now I've seen @sANDYbAY nice painted supports I want to take mines apart and have them painted.
@allibus3, could you please ask them for a quote for the same size spring but with 5 - 10 kg additional lifting capacity? Be great if you could!
I will add it in as long as it doesn't need my sample tested to destruction! What are you launching off the roof ??!
Just thinking about this, it may be the same length but use larger wire to increase the capacity. I expect what you will need to know is the resultant diameter or if they can match the same diameter in larger wire?
Yes mate, I think the overall diameter will need to be pretty similar to still sit in the channel when down. A slight difference I cant see making a difference. I've completely rebuilt the roof and added some timber strengtheners across its width. 5kg additional capacity would probably do it. Cheers mate
Ok, I'll ask. Maybe shorter would give the extra lift but could be more difficult to fit. I'll pass on the challenge
So, here it is guys! The quote has arrived and a pre-galvanized carbon steel spring are £17.10 each, plus postage. beats my £45 ones from down under!! That of course is postage to me which I'll split across the number of springs ordered, so that just leaves the postage from me to you to add on. They have offered break points at orders for 12 and 18 which are £15.10 and £13.50 each respectively, so the more the merrier. They declined to quote for a stronger spring sorry @Baysearcher I did ask for a stainless steel version and the response was it will be around 12.5% weaker and will extend 20% less than the spring above before it starts to stretch. And £2.00 more expensive, so I'm not going for those. So I'll start a list of names and numbers, just shout out.
I can't remember offhand but if the back one is identical to the side ones then I'll have three please.
