The mechanism looks right. If I was close to my bus I'd measure it to make sure they're same length as originals.

They do come in different sizes with different lift heights and loads. Mine are the 900mm ones but that's not to say yours will be! Rated at either 30kg or 40kg load but only one type of spring listed

Looks like they are only available in Australia from what I can find but I'd love to be proved wrong ....

@mjones1969 this sounds like a thread to interest you. Have you taken any photographs yet of which bit on yours is broken?

Not for the moment thanks Bob - I'm going to have to re-bodge mine a tad for now. The rear one was has a non-standard, shorter, spring in the top which was attached with a metal plate to the roller. The metal plate has given way so I've got a smaller spring to attach to the one I have to make it the right length - if you see what I mean! Also need to repair the cross pieces because the middle bolt has sheared. That's why I started looking at complete mechanisms ....

  10. Hi yes I did post a photo on another thread, its just the channel section I need IMG_2031.JPG
I was hoping that I could find some metal section and fabricate one or when the pop top is fully off the bus see if it can be bodged! (for this year only honest.....) as me funds are very low

Matt I'll take my bus down to his workshop tomorrow so I can show him what you want and see if he's prepared to make another one for you.

  13. Hi @Razzyh,

I'm going to replace one ( or two) of my springs plus the new wheels I got from you.

Where is your "How to" article that makes it easy??

You must have done this any tips / pitfalls?

It looks to me that the only thing that stops the mechanism fully extending is the canvas

Yes it is. I put ratchet straps over my roof and pulled them down until the roof was level and about 2 inches lower than I wanted. Once I'd fastened the bottom of the skirt and removed the straps the springs pulled the skirt up nice and tight.

  15. Great thanks.

Can you get the mechanisms out with the roof in this position?

I had to swop the two side mechanisms (long story) so I cut a piece of wood to support the front in the raised position while I did it.

  17. cool, thanks

Hi Matt, well I went for a drive in the van today and went round to the industrial estate to the bus seat manufacturers who did the work for me.

Bad news I'm afraid, the car park was deserted, the doors padlocked closed and a big pile of mail on the foyer floor. :(

It looks like they didn't make it through the recession. There were about 30 guys working there four years ago. :(

It did remind me of a joke that was doing the rounds a while ago...

What do you call 10 bankers at the bottom of the ocean?

    A start.

  19. Hi Bob, thanks for trying shame they didn't make it :( at least you went for a drive on a nice day
Once I manage to get the thingy off then I maybe able to create something that will work......

  20. Doesn't one of you have a friend or relative in Australia that could order them and forward them on? Once you've got them it might be an idea to send one off to a spring maker sort of guy and get a few made to order and bung them on ebay and here?
