Thats very true owen Now im not putting myself under pressure and just trying to do one job each day no matter how small im actually enjoying working on it again Ive been to the engineers again today to have a word Hes had my suspension arms for nearly two months now and keeps fobbing me off with they will be done in the next few days He told me today they will be ready by weekend so lets hope so because i want to start bolting parts back on so i can move the bus onto firmer ground and out of the wind
Well the engineer called to say my ball joints had been pressed in so i popped down to collect them Hes not lined one of them up properly when hes pressed it in so ive left it with him and brought the other three home I really hope he can press it out and back in properly without damaging it. Getting these balljoints done has been a pain in the backside and i wish id gone down the cool air exchange route Oh well you live and learn and at least i can get on with prepping and painting three of them
I expect it took so long because you didn't hack off the bits I suggested to make it easy for him. We do 4 in 20 mins/ half an hour once I've got them ready. ...and I think he's exaggerating the tonnage a wee bit for effect.
He didnt want to do it that way zed To be honest i think he was more interested in making a reciever to allow them to press out normally I reckon he got *******ed off when his reciever tool broke lol Hes got a really good reputation locally though and phoned me out of his working hours tonight to tell me it was rectified and i can pick it up in the morning. £70 hes charging me so only £20 above his starting price I think i would go back to him for other work though In future if i need to do suspension ball joints on a bus again ill remove the old ones at home and take the arms to a hgv garage to have the new ones pressed in Ill be glad to have them all back so i can start bolting parts back on the bus and get it moved Then i can start on the little bits of welding on the sill and rear jacking points and get the whole underside of the cargo floor undersealed
Yeah owen hes re done it and i collected it this morning Im hoping to be able to get them back to bare metal and in etch primer by the end off tmw
Ive managed to get one arm cleaned up and in etch primer whilst the little un had a nap Hopefully ill be getting the first coat of paint on it tonight once the kids are in bed Ive also got a brake disc back plate ready for its final coat of paint tonight
makes a wile difference to what ye do when its all in , even better when some one ie mot man looks under and no s ye did it right , owen nw :spit:
You're right there Owen, I'm beginning to feel left out of this clean shiney undercarriage club you guys are in.
