Just read this thread for the first time. Looking really good, if you ever lose a bit of mojo just re-read this thread, you've done loads so far and it's all looking great. Keep going at this rate and I think you'll have a cracking bus for next season.
Paradoodle -- i love the effort you have put into this bus and i realise what a difficult task it must be for you at time's , if you don't get this bus up and running i think it will be a crying shame , along with a few others on here i really want to be camping with you next year , mate your a legend and a brill bloke .
Cheers malc for the kind words Ive finished one spindle now and will be making a start on the other today
very tidy work as usual 8) they look great where do you get tractor enamel from??? - it looks nice and shiney ;D is it hard wearing ?, I've tried POR15 which gives a similar appearance but it can be tricky to apply and I've not always had much sucsess with it so I was looking for something else to paint the running gear with.
Cheers diddy dude Its quite durable once properly dried Ive been using tormastic tractor enamel from my local agricultural suppliers but in the past ive used tractol tractor enamel again from an agricultural suppliers. It normally costs about £10 a litre and a litre goes a very long way Rustoleum is a coach enamel and has a deeper shine than tractor enamel but ive not used that myself yet
I might have to track down a local agricultural supplier then ;D, that is way cheaper than POR15 when you add up all their other products you have to use first Do you think Rustoleum would be tough enough on the running gear? it might be easier for me to get hold of
Cheers trev Diddy pm major hangover hes used satin black rustoleum on his parts I cant see any reason not to use it on the running gear apart from its more expensive than tractor enamel
It's hard to get Rustoleum here in OZ, but people seem to a rust paint that is an epoxy enamel... Is that a agricultural type paint?
Hey mate you're doing a first class job there, very impressive and when it's finished it will be brilliant........but Don't forget the mantra we spoke about a few months ago.. I WILL CAMP IN THIS BUS THIS YEAR. You have a family who want to go camping not look at shiny bits on the kitchen table.
Funds and commitments mean even if the bus was on the road now we wouldent be going camping this year So why rush it just to say ive got an mot? Im going through all the mechanicals checking refurbing/replacing as needed starting at the front of the bus because the beam had to come off for repairs anyway Once the front is done im working my way to the rear which will include some underside welding along the way The plan is to mot her about march time next year then concentrate on sorting out the bodywork rolling resto style safe in the knowledge shes in fine fettle mechanically and structually
