anything i don't like in my life , i get rid ,including women ,kids etc... The cars/vans are much simplier......
I hope you look out on it today and feel the love for it. You are so near to finishing it now, you will soon be driving it again and loving the freedom. You live in such a lovely part of the world you will be able to nip out for a night in the great outdoors so easily. Imagine being a bit down last night, you could just get in your van, drive for 15 mins and completely escape for the night. Stay on target, almost there. Is there much else to do except waiting for the engine? If I had a spare engine I'd lend it to you, to get you back on the rd sooner
If you get to the point where all you need is an engine I may have one you can borrow - kind of my back up Motor . it was pretty much turn key but think a Few bits have been taken off -alternators - but won't take much if it gets you on the blooming road...,
If that's how you feel why not stick it all back together, forget about painting anything else and just flog it.
It was a bit leaky and a bit smokey on overrun but pulled well and took us up the alps one year. It's sat in the back of @giraffeinbath's long term beetle project but could be pulled out and TLB couriered if it helps while your motor is being built. One condition - you would have to put it in and use the van and not start stripping down engine and cleaning and painting the tired old lump. The offer is there if you need.
Jeez this is gonna be more tense than who shot "wild eyes" bill hegarty, or when will big Bea from prisoner cell block h show us her growler. Can he bring himself to put a dirty leaky unpainted engine in his van and go camping. I don't think he can do it
I'll be back on it soon I've been learning some woodworking skills recently helping turn an old chicken shed into dog kennels It's been good fun and has boosted my wood working confidence So I'm going to carry on regardless and if still no engine I'll use this year to build an interior
Oh and I've been having lots of smiles enjoying my new daily drive So much fun yet so simple design Two things I look for in a vehicle
While hunting out lowering parts, I came across these.... http://www.wagenswest.com/partstore...1968-79-vw-bus-rear-lift-plates-2-5-inch.html http://www.wagenswest.com/partstore...9-bay-bus-2-5-lifted-ball-joint-spindles.html
Cv bolts torqued up and the back of the bus has its wheels back on the ground Front of the bus is now up in the air I think I may need some new brake discs.
