  1. So whos going, whos not, who cant wait and who doesnt give a monkeys.

I will start. Im not going, I currently couldnt give a monkeys but Im sure I will get at least a little enthusiastic as the games progress.

Lets hope they arent cancelled due to the weather eh ;)

  2. I'm quite excited about it to be honest. We have tickets for the football to see the GB team, and the torch passes our way on Wednesday so will be going down to watch that.

not remotely interested, yet another sporting event that's gonna mess up my hectic tv schedule, i didn't know when eastenders was on next during the euro mongball championships and now this..... poxy sport.

  4. I'm not going or that bothered but will be watching for the imminent terrorist attack and the beach volleyball.

  5. to be honest i think its been a shambles so far...and a lot of money spent, which could of been spent in other area's
and as for the gb football team.. they did no good in the euro..
good luck to all those who have worked hard to get into the teams and hope you get your medals..
i cant afford to go...dont want to go i would rather go and see a live show in the west end

For me, I think its been spoiled a bit for the following reasons:

The torch travelling around was poorly advertised, not much press locally till the day before (I'm talking Matlock area).

Initially to book tickets it was via a Visa Credit/Debit Card only, no others accepted

Then theres McDonalds throwing the toys out & only them selling chips/fries - what the :(

only one brand of beer - Heineken at £4.20 for a 330ml bottle - again, rip off

    G4S & the security shambles..

    the list could go on!

  7. I could not give a pair of monkey nuts about olympics!

So bored of it and it aint even started!

  8. Some games bashing academic on TV the other day made a comment that for the costs of the games that every man woman and child in the country could have had a 2 week vacation in the carribean (or summat similar). Lets all go the same two weeks shall we and let them get on with it!

  9. Couldnt give a monkeys except the cycling. Im more concerned about what happens after the olympics. Look at Greece! Clearly its sports fault!

  10. I'd rather have had a boil lanced that go and watch the torch, same goes for the olympics itself

    I can't wait!!!!

Appreciate other people don't like the Olympics, sport etc. - no worries, it would be boring if we were all the same!

As for the financing - its not like they achieve a great deal every other year when we don't have the Olympics - its a much wider argument and if an event like these focusses public spending to be more cost effective then all good (for every closed anti natal clinic they never seem to reference the over painting of the same flippin roundabout's white lines again for example as they wind down this years budget).

My major criticism of the games is two fold - I don't agree with the location - and I also don't agree with the funding for legacy and increased participation being given to elite governing bodies to administer - I've seen first hand how this never filters down to the grass roots.

Other than that I think its a brilliant thing for us to host.

  12. I quite like 'community' things, or should that be things that bring the country together so even though I am not vaguely sporty, I'm quite looking forward to it.

We did go to see the torch when it went through Oldham (and I was probably the only person over the age of 7 to purchase an inflatable version to being home :-[ ) and we will no doubt watch some of the sports that we can tolerate like athletics and diving and swimming and high jump etc.

I'm also interested in seeing what the opening ceremony is like.

  13. not going and not really bothered

i will watch a bit of the sailing as we should get a few medals in that but the rest i don't care about

  14. apparently due to the pants weather the ladies beach volleyball will be wearing long sleeve tops & leggings :- .. so im not watching any of it out of protest ::)

  15. I love athletics and watching it - I would be looking forward to the Olympics if it was in a different country - but the constant build up and security etc etc etc have made it a bore before its begun.

Not that interested. Will no doubt watch bits of it but wont go out of my way to do so.
Its just another event to boost London PLC.

  17. I'm dreading it :(

I work in Victoria, epicentre of Olympic hell for travelling, and it's already becoming more touristy if that's even possible :-

I work in Canary Wharf a few days a week - the transport there is kippered most of the time anyway.

We are getting out of London for a few weeks (will be good for the London guys to have to travel out sometimes, let them out into the sun as it were (if it wasn't raining that is)).
