Good on you mate you're doing the right thing. Live your life etc enjoy. Your blog makes me very jealous.. do you ski or surfboard. The Alps in winter are magical.
Pretty sure that was when I was at Bletchley Park away on a training course and the head gasket on my 1971 Triumph 2000 blew. We changed it one night in an open-sided shed. It was absolutely chuffing freezing although I think it was only -22. Diesel was freezing in lorries, and I remember very well another night when a mate changing lanes on the A5 in the snow and spinning his ford capri while we were passengers. How we all laughed after we checked our underwear and he turned the car back round in the right direction. Luckily most people weren't stupid enough to be out on the roads at that time. I wouldn't fancy being in my bus at that kind of temperature. Certainly not over several nights! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just caught up with the blog. Excellent stuff. Now get your Go Pro on and let's see some footage of you hurtling down a black run
Enjoyed reading the blog Still can't believe you're doing this without propex /eberspacher or winter tyres but each to their own. Very jealous as we were hoping for a snowboarding trip this winter but it doesn't look likely now for us
Great blog!Looking forward to updates.Have you considered a silk inner sheet in sleeping bag....really warm.
Just been reading your blog. Good stuff! Didn't realise you had a subaru engine - at least you know you'll get there and back! As for those bullet fuses, I hate them so much I fitted blade fuses with LEDs on a new fuse box piggy-backed onto the original fuse panel as I once watched in horror while a bullet fuse body melted as fast as the filament strip and kept sparking and smoking. Good luck and happy 'boarding! Ps get a fleece sleeping bag liner, might help a bit and not too expensive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
what did you use to connect to the existing fusebox? Wouldn't mind a pic if possible sound a good mod on the face of it!
I wanted to keep the original fuse box and try it out first as the wiring was so short, but I ended up keeping my temp job as it worked out ok. I made up short jumper wires with insulated spades both ends, with one end on each of the old torpedo connection blades and the other going to the back of the new fuse box. It's not pretty but it works!I'll get a photo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had exactly the same idea to do this but was concerned about wire sizes. Pic would be great! Thanks.
Thanks I used to windsurf (so fanatical it almost led to divorce) then mountain biking then skiing. My theory is that it's all man's desire to fly like a bird. Whichever gets closest to that is what we like best. And yes, just being in the Alps is brilliant, you never get used to it
I thought you'd all think I was barmy! To save time I bought tails made up with one end already and added the female spade connector on the other end for the 8A jumpers. The 16A I made from heavier gauge wire. It's a lot of crimping and soldering! Sorry Sick Boy for hijacking your thread! Not intentional! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Spent three seasons in Verbier where I could be choosy about the conditions as I had a part time job cooking in the evenings. Then went overseas and worked in the Seychelles where I learnt to windsurf. I'm with you all the way. Single sports are a bit of an ego trip but showing off under the chair lift is a buzz.
Great blog ... the question I keep wanting to ask is would you have undertaken this trip if you still had an air-cooled engine in the bus?
