  1. Yeah I'd get the new panel and go from there.

The captive nuts that zed mentioned are on the bottom on the chassis rails for the bumper to bolt onto. You can see them here:

The holes in the rear corners are capped off and used for squirting waxoil into the chassis rails and / d post?

  2.

  4. The wheels have been on and off,on and off again,They're just off the ground,I've just put them back on because I was working underneath and felt it was safer.. Having said that I quite like the look of these wheels so my plan is to sand blast and repaint them.

  5. I put a coat of red oxide on the bare metal roof, just to protect it..

  6. Finally got my home made sand blasting cabinet up and running. This is going to be my favourite tool :)

  7. I built my rear rails out of box section it worked really well

  8. My rear chassis rails are in good condition.. They have just got some box section welded to them extending thier length.. I think this was done (by the previous owner) so a home made removable valance could be fitted.
If I want (and I do) to refit an original rear inner valance I will need to remove the box section.

  9. At least you can do something with it and they have not damaged the rails to much

  10. Ref the box section : It's actually the only descent bit of welding the previous owner did.. Should be easy to remove without touching/damaging the chassis.. I've ordered the inner valance so should be able to size it up and crack on with it.
Edit ..Also ordered some cutting discs,a set of intergrips and a new welding helmet :)

Edit again.. Tuesday, and the inner valance arrived today.. I cut the box section off and offered the new part up. I can see where everything is supposed to go now.
Had a look for the captive nuts.. They're there but have the remains of the drilled out bolts as do the nuts/plates for the engine bay door hinges..
Think the PO had a new drill every christmas.. Wish someone had bought him a socket set then he might of unscrewed some of these bolts.

  11. :)

  12. not seen any updates on here for a while ....pull your finger out :p

  13. Sorry Boss :D
You may have read in another thread that I'd lost the love and even sold off a few bits and pieces including the Subaru engine and RJES parts.. You might also have read that just a few weeks ago I've now found the love again and although i don't get much time I'm slowly making progress.
The back end is starting to take shape.

Yes, I did read you had sold a few bits, glad you have found the love again. I find after a while you got a wall and its hard to get motivated again ....but it comes back the closer you get to paint

You've got a good garage to work in by the look of it, colour choice is one of the hardest decisions
