  3. Had half a day on the bus today.
Focused on the interior mostly, getting it sanded down, hoping to get the interior in primer within the next month or so.

  4. Welded up some holes on the inside of the air vents, then put a skim of filler over.

  5. Then got half of the cargo floor bare-metalled & got the inside of some of the panels sanded down some..

Then lastly.. I cleaned up the lip around the outside of the cut out for the Devon pop top. It had a bit of rust, so I stripped off what I could, then used fe-123 on the rest, then used some rattle can primer just to cover it up.

I'm doing exact same jobs on same conversion van right now. :) I ought to weld up those holes at the back inside too.

  7. The only problem I have is I can't figure out how to strip and paint the inside of the air intakes :s

Yeah I'm welding up every hole where water can possibly get in, hoping it will last a little longer lol.

  8. You need the engine out and a para with his mr tickle arms:lol:

  9. Oh also @zed , see in the bottom picture.. The two screw holes in front of the interior light hole..
The two holes are slightly set back from the lip above,
The bunk bed fitting plate thing goes in line with the upper lip, leaving a 1cm gap between the back of the bunk hook and the two holes...

    What goes there?

  10. Hahaha is that actually how you done yours?
***** that would be difficult hahaha

  11. No paul weeding did mine so maybe he can let you know his approach

You know how picky i can be though so im going to redo the engine bay area at some point down the line

Para's right, arm through light hole and I can reach about a 1/3 up the vents, the rest is fingers through near the top and contraptions for the middle bit. I got lucky, mines quite nice in there. Got lucky with the roof as well which has been renovated previously from the look of it, or just a freaky survivor.

Dunno, they look too neat and well positioned to be Devon holes though! No bunks or light in mine when I got it.

  14. Yeah I was thinking a sanding block on a stick lol. I'll figure something out.

The holes are definitely for the bunk brackets, im sure something else should be there though, just don't know what :/ maybe @Diddymen will know? It looks like a spacer or something should go there.

  15. yea I'm pretty sure the two holes are for the bunk brackets and I'm pretty sure they mount on a small bit of wood

I cleaned out my vents using a rotary wire brush welded onto a bit of threaded bar, then used it in a power drill

Also made up an extension to one of those spray gun shot blasters using a bit of hose and copper pipe to direct it in ....that was semi successful

  16. Van is looking good BTW

Think yours is a little different to mime as it looks like yours has a cut out for a light, in the PIC above there is the bracket, and under the headliner is a bit of wood that it screws to

There are some more pics on page 17 of my resto

  18. Perfect, so just a bit of wood underneath, I think I'll make something a bit steadier out of metal. Cheers mate

Also.. How successful was the wire brush contraption you made? I don't have the luxury of a grit blaster lol,
