Ok as predicted she failed her MOT, the list seems quite short so I'm pleased considering some of the failures i've seen mentioned on here : Anyway: 1. Headlight Aim 2. Indicators flashing too fast 3. rear lights not correct (this is probably due to the fact that the previous owner fitted all red American spec lenses and changed the reverse lights to indicators using jaffa bulbs - i'd like to keep it this way as it looks cool so I hope Chris can sort it 4. Play in steering, this needs new bushes - I think Chris said something about the central hydra?!?! 5. Weak handbrake 6. Rear brake pipe corroded (actually very annoyed about this as my previous said he'd replaced this 18 months ago) 7. Front chassis member has a rusty bit. I've given Chris a list of things I want doing including: 1. Sorting the dodgy battery trays 2. Waxoyl the underneath 3. sort all the door shuts - I dont think there's a single one that shuts properly : 4. Move the fuel filter away from the big hot bits of metal (recommended by Chris) and replace the fuel line. I've also asked him to price up twin Carbs - has anyone got any recommendations, its a standard Type 1 1600 twin port, the only nice bit i've put on so far is a speedshop 4 into 1 stainless exhaust (very very nice 8) ) Is there anything else I should get checked at this stage?? cheers guys
quick update Chris has pretty much finished the MOT work, he ended up having to replace the front indicators with these Whilst she is away, I've took the opportunity to finish painting the garage floor. What a pain of a job, firstly the colour of the second tin is completely different and secondly I've run out with a tiny bit left to do GRRR, maybe a fetching garage rug could be in order lol ;D All the furniture has now been moved into the dining room, I'm planning on oiling it this week Chris has given me a quote for fitting twin carbs, does 4 to 6 hours labour sound about right? Seems ok to me just thought I'd ask!
Yesterday we went up't Yorkshire (you have to say it like that it's the law ) Whilst there we called in to see Eveningstar and Crazycaver at Freedom Campers. Dora their van was in the shop and despite the lack of anything in Dora (including an engine) Steve still thinks they will be going to Springcamp in her, so I have been spurred on, there is no reason why we cant get to Spingcamp in Luu!! Today I shall mostly be oiling the furniture - wish me luck, piccies up later ;D
think positive girls, after the work you have done so far to make Luu look good, you will do it, easily!
Hiya Great pics of the refurb - have inspired to get on and do the guts of ours! Can I ask... what type of felt did you use? was it just standard carpet lining used in commercial vans? Cheers
Very impressed with the work you have done so far. It's so good to see the bus come to life. I'm sure you will finish in time for spring camp and look forward to seeing you there. Well done.
How have I missed all this? Great work Sarah, loving the furniture and that teak oil looks great. Keep going, 2 more weeks!!!!!!
Fantastic job mate, we have the same bus and were doing the same with ours next year, I like what you've done with the lining too, looks a bit fiddly, but is it easy enough to do? were doing the cab area first though, I 've got a lot of things to sort out there, I have speedo issues, oil temp and pressure gauges to fit, heres a pic of my dash at the moment, it's not as bad as it looks, cant wait till its all done, I've also bought a couple of Saab seats and had them re-upholstered, the kick panels and the door cards are done to match too, she'll be mint when she's done, we'll have the summer with her then get stuck into the rest of the interior next year, anyways great job, I'm following this thread my dash at the moment !!!!! heres my new cab seats ready to be fitted
