  2. Made a new A pillar bottom today and welded it in.
No piccies though as i'm not happy with how it looks even though it'll be hidden.

Repaired the inner valance between the two chassis rails too.

  3. It's easter mate ,even I have had today off...:D

  4. I've got a week and a half before i go away in it. Not got the time to take a break.:(

I wish it was just a rotten original van instead of one thats been bodged by previous owners.

  5. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Well, you have half your wish. :)

  6. Crack on :D

A VW clause says you can only blame the former owners for botches within the first year ,not ten years later...:hattip:

  7. Worst I ever tackled was one that'd been welded an heavily undersealed

Nearly 6 weeks worth of cutting and rebuilding

Wasn't a solid 6 weeks as I was fed up of getting covered in grinder crap after the first 2 :(

  8. Got the inner valance and A pillar sealed and painted in red oxide paint before i weld the deformation panel.
Not perfect but strong and 100% better than filler and carrier bags. ;)

  9. Bit of replacement deformation panel welded on.

Hopefully get the rest welded up tomorrow and get the bumper repaired too.

Popped the indicators out and took the grill off to give it a bit of a clean up and rust cure:

Airbox lip is a little crispy round the edges and most of the speed nuts fell apart as the grill was unscrewed. :(

  13. Gonna paint the reflectors in the indicators silver again as they were 1/2 full of water so have a greenish tinge to them. :(
Might do the rear light holders too as they are all flakey.

Planning on getting the topcoat on either this afternoon or tomorrow, some waxoyl into the cavities and the underside undersealed.

    Bumpers will get painted too.

  15. Yep.

Not even bothering with the front end, but the rear corners, D pillars and battery trays plus the stupid VW design flaw just behind the O/S rear wheel is getting a coating.

  19. Which bit? Most has been done before.

I repaired the top last time but the rest was solid at the time.

  20. Welded up a couple of holes in the front bumper:

    Painted the back one white.

Inside of the front one was painted black and the front grill primed.
