  1. You mean the one when our ecconomy wasn't shot, borrowing was only 23% of GDP & VAT was reduced? That one?

Reading all these posts it seems as if this great Labour leader and party are going ******* it Boris might as well give in now, oh well that's that then

  5. I feel the old party system is divisive and had its day. We need radical change. We can still have democracy with a form of non party coalition where MP's can operate in a more cohesive way rather than causing divide and stifle decision making. The 3 years of Brexit nonsense has shown the nation what a mess our politics has become and its sad to see the MP's we voted for at each other's throats and being incapable of compromise and working together.

The December election will get us more of the same, there will be some new blood as a lot of MP's have resigned and some will not be re elected, but as long as the divisive party system is place we will never progress.

Re Brexit, I think its never going to happen, maybe it would be better to shelve it for a while, so Parliament can focus on the real issues in our country that have been neglected and run down for years.

I saw Mr Johnson being interviewed by a rather rude young lady on the BBC this morning, I think he did quite well when he was allowed to answer the questions, be interesting to see how they treat Corbyn when they interview him

  9. FYI
Last labour government VAT 17.5%. They did reduce it to 15% for 1 year
    Borrowing was 34.4% in 2008 and jumped 85% to 63.4% in 2010
If Labour had continued in power most economists expected that the borrowing would have risen to over 100%
    in 1997 borrowing was 36.9%

Didn't the then opposition Tory party sign off on all Labour spending plans and actually call for more borrowing- until the world banking crisis in '08 came and they decided to blame it all on Labour.

I like Naga but I don’t think she’s that experienced with this sort of interview, maybe that’s why it comes across as rudeness. Someone like Andrew Neil would be much better really. No idea how they will treat Corbyn but in fairness he gets it in the teeth day in, day out from the predominantly right wing Tory supporting print media we have in this country. So long as Johnson stays “on message” ( ie, the press version of “on message”) he’ll do ok and a few awkward interviews on the Beeb might not bother him too much.

The labour party are no longer a party of the working man . They just want to control and give the working man what THEY think is best for the working man Take a look at the top of momentum- lefties with useless degrees from oxbridge or the LSE

  14. For EVERYONE .......Instead of being given a peerage or ridiculously highly paid job for an INDIVIDUAL candidate who declines to stand against the tory held seat.
I don't think broadband should actually be free but rather capped as should energy prices & public transport charges.... Fat cats getting fatter & the little man getting shafted from all angles.... yet again!

  16. We have been paying tax for eons!
    VAT
    Income tax
    National insurance
    Stamp duty
    Council tax
    Sugar tax
    Tobacco tax
    Alchohol tax
    MoT
    Road tax
    Fuel tax
to name but a few AND what's wrong with that? At least you will get something for it instead of lining the pockets of those who actually don't need it. Also you may help out someone less fortunate than yourself... just saying!

I am one of the people who pay tax and get very little back in return, and fortunate has nothing to do with it, just saying.

  18. You are not alone in paying tax, my friend... did you see the list above? Everyone pays it in one form or another. We have serious problems in this country whether it be homelessness, obesity, knife crime, mental health, pollution, policing, education, food banks or a host of other issues and the only way to tackle that is at the front line, with money...... that's what your & my taxes pay for... surely you don't begrudge that?
