Does anyone here read or have made a review on JK?

I made a review on boot for dipstick part J10961, which I said was an awful part that lasted several months and then failed and caused me to do a lot more work due to it leaking (or along those lines), once i submitted my review it said thanks for the review it is now being moderated which was some weeks ago and it still shows no reviews.

So are JK only allowing the reviews they want people to see I.e. good reviews?

How did you guess!!! I bought a pair of sunvisors for our westy & the inner pivots are about 20mm short of meeting the VW standard drilling for the little plastic hinge part..I did a review, I also called them. The review never appeared & I was told to redrill the holes to suit - the previous VW ones lined up perfectly!

I will say that Josh is taking all of our comments back to JK towers & addressing them very well, big up to him I say!

  3. 1) maybe some read them...
    2) I did give a negative on one of their products sometime ago and no it didn't appear so I no longer place any credence on reviews on that site. A positive one I gave did appear so draw your own conclusions..

  4. MorkC68 - I had exactly the same problem with their sun visors, however I didn't have to drill new holes. Can't remember exactly how I did it, but I managed to pull the prongy bit that goes in to the clip out of the visor a bit and then they fitted fine using the original mounting positions. They should though have fitted straight out of the packaging though and shouldn't have need "modifying".

This was one of many problems I've had with items from them and so is one of many reasons why unless I really can't get the part elsewhere avoid buying from them now.

Yep, the prongs pulled out on ours too but stopped 5mm short! I left them as is as they are quite stiff and don't flop down!

  6. I'll have a look later and see if I can remind myself exactly how I got it to fit - will let you know if I remember.

I did think about extending them with some stiff plastic tube!

  8. Yep I did the same with a review of a repro window regulator mechanism. I slated it as it was rubbish and funnily enough it never made it on as a review

I think I managed to get a review of window winders on the JK site by describing them as more fragile rather than as Brazilian Cheese Metal crap.

So where is josh to comment then?

  11. I will be giving a bad review soon, if its only going to be read with no chance of ever getting posted up then i can say exactly what i think!

  12. JK use a company called trust pilot for their reviews (at least they did last time I looked)
Its the same company that my old firm used to use, and from what I managed to gather.. the manager of the business can have reviews removed by trustpilot if the review is proved to be bogus, offensive or unfair.

    i think...
but the evidence speaks for its self. so i dont know.

all i know is that after a couple of ill fitting parts and over prices toot.. I've started shopping at vw heritage and alan schofield alot more.
i think JK's customer base is for VW 1st time owners who dont reaaaaally know alot about the products, when I got my bus i thought WEYHEY! 1 shop that does all the parts I need? and cheap? too good to be true!... well.. yup. haha

saying that.. i have had some good products from JK and a pretty good service.
i think there is room for improvement though.

I think they do read them and have a second look at the product, but then sell the 5 million dodgy ones in stock, before trying to improve it.
They had hundreds if not thousands of back to front slding door seals once but sold them all while denying there was a problem, then proudly announced that henceforth were selling better "quality" slider seals. It is annoying. Same for the braided petrol hose, they must have had enough stock to reach to the moon and back as it's taken about 10 years of moaning for them to do anything other than keep on flogging it.

BUT lets counter that: if you do complain about a product, they don't make a fuss about replacing it. If you don't return it you only encourage them to assume most people are quite happy with it, after all it's the only hard info they have to go on.

  14. ^this. If you don't return stuff, folk will assume either a) there's not a problem or b) there is a problem but they've got away with it. Only when the warehouse is filling up with junk will folk take notice.

  15. I have used JK a few times and I think the quality of the parts can be a little mixed. When I have needed to return something though, there was no arguments at all.

  16. I think as said above, for someone restoring for the 1st time thinks "awesome,,, all I need in one place"
    I had loads from them. Just a few examples;

Tailgate: arrived dented, was told they had no more & wouldn't for 3 months, so I repaired it.

Door seals all round: all too big & badly made. They wouldn't take them back as it exceeded 90 days (took me longer than I expected to get to the point of fitting them)

Window winders: broke when I wound the window up for the first time. Put in the bin.

    Window seals: genuinely bad quality.

Tailgate light: Damaged when I got it. Binned it.

I was up against time & didn't want to have to return items & wait for replacements. Some if the items were good but overall not that impressed.

I use MegaBug & Heritage now.

    Hi everyone,

Looks like I missed this one until earlier today when I got an alert from Baysearcher, so sorry for the delay in replying - whilst I do check in several times a day I obviously do miss threads from time to time.

I managed to grab a word with Mark (the founder & owner of JK) about this between meetings, so hopefully between the two of us we'll have all the information we need to answer your questions :)

We started using TrustPilot at the beginning of the year to handle the bulk of our reviews, and have found it massively helpful as it allows us to reply to customers directly, which means that in the fairly rare instance that something does go wrong we can explain to the customer what has happened and what we're doing to resolve it.

Mark goes through all of the TrustPilot reviews on a daily basis (including Saturdays and Sundays) to keep an eye out for any problems or issues with products or services, and has resolved a lot of issues that have been reported in this way.
For example, our new 'free delivery over £35' service and our scrapping of oversize charges both came from customers flagging these things up as issues in TrustPilot.
Similarly, we've changed / added / removed several products based on TrustPilot feedback. We've switched all of our hub caps to stainless steel, bought in a new quick erect pop up awning and added Vewib rubber as our 1st quality for T2 rubbers.

zed mentioned that we have / had a policy of sitting on poor products until they're sold out, and while I don't know how things worked before I started working here I believe our current policy is to find an alternative source or product as soon as possible and then sell the offending products off in 'Scratch & Dent' where everyone knows it's possibly of slightly dubious quality!

With regards to our product reviews, we're not entirely sure why they haven't been posted to the site as they should be, but from now on Mark is going to go through them each day to see if there are any problem products that need to be looked at. Obviously feedback from customers is absolutely invaluable to us as we continue to push through our entire range and improve the quality of all products as far as possible, so we're certainly not going to ignore free advice when it's offered.
If we're not informed about problems then we'll never be able to resolve them, so we really are grateful for everyone who contacts us about any issues they've had.

I've already passed on the items that Grum mentioned earlier - Although it sounds like a couple of them were damaged by the courier, which is a real shame - so that'll give him something to do with his bank holiday ;)

I think I've gone on for long enough now, so if anyone has any specific questions or comments please do just let me know - my direct email is in my signature

Thanks, and have a great bank holiday weekend :)

Sounds like bla bla bla to me.

No reason why reviews are not posted as they should be good or bad.

I've had no recourse what so ever - apart from spending my money elsewhere.

Sorry you feel that way Razzyh, we're looking in to why the reviews aren't going up as soon as possible.
I know we've had some problems previously with spammer using them to post links to all sorts of stuff, but whatever the cause is we'll get it sorted as quickly as we can.

Just out of interest, did you contact us directly as well as leaving a product review?

    Thanks
    Josh
