  8. I personally found if I won a fight I felt sorry for the other person I had beaten up and also felt embarrassed for doing that but on the other hand if i lost that would also really bug me . Only ever had two unavoidable fights at school but being quite small and quiet and winning both against bigger lads seemed to stop the idiots from considering me as a target . Never liked getting into any fisticuffs but enjoyed play wrestling at school .

  10. If the forum dies, this threads going to outlive it. Once it gets to 30 pages it'll gain self awareness. Still won't know which oil.

I have to admit to being slightly jealous of some of you who never experienced bullying at school or the workplace. Having grown up in Liverpool in the 60s, the dyslexic kids were called out regularly for being stupid, the sissy was hounded, the black kid ended up in hospital, I was beaten up because I came from a Catholic family (maybe that's why I'm an atheist now?). Work tended to be more subtle, but sexism was rife. I'm not small so I learnt to defend myself, but you get my drift and I often wonder how those kids managed.

My daughter was bullied through school until she decided to give one of the bullies a black eye. Then she became one of the 'cool' kids and the bully said sorry. Learning to defend yourself is a major part in controlling it.

I was badly bullied throughout school and after a few disappointing fights I learned the best way was just to ignore and not react and they soon got bored.

I then turned into a 6’3 17 stone bloke and then had the problem of little guys wanting a fight in the pub luckily there was enough pubs in town to walk away.

I meant personally although I did have to run the gauntlet for a while until I sorted it.

We had a very good school football team that I was part of. Our captain went on to become a very good non league player but he was a bully!

One day in a double PE lesson our teachers decided to form a five a side league and picked the players for each team. My team beat our captain’s team in the final. Going up the stairs back to the changing room he was slaughtering one lad who had glasses and was small. He’d put him in goal and blamed him for every mistake, the lad ( who I am still in touch with) was broken hearted he wasn’t a sportsman’s by any means and just wanted to do his best as he was in our class and in the PE lesson.

In the changing room as we were getting ready for the shower he started on him again. I asked him to give it a rest and then he started on me and we ended up kicking and punching each other until the teacher came and parted us by shoving us under the cold shower. That was pretty embarrassing actually as there was also a female teacher present and we had been fighting in our pants so when the cold water had its effect on our pants and parts we didn’t look or feel like mighty warriors, just silly.

    That learned us!

They must have been big pants, for both of you to have been fighting in them.

  18. I think most people have suffered a form of bulling both physical and verbal but people deal with it in different ways but some were really at the bottom of the pile and suffered relentlessly. We had just 2.5 black kids at secondary school and they got abuse but not as much as a few of the really poor ones . There is no avoiding it especially nowadays with mobile phones and social media and in a way I do agree with what Crossy 2112 daughter did .Good on her !

I can't believe that I've made it page 26 and I have no idea what I've just read. My take is that I'm a relatively newcomer (9 or 10 years I think), old and vanless. I haven't been and problably never will be a prolific poster on the forum but I think it's it's a great place. Very informative if anyone has a problem with their Bay, epic tales of heroic restorations that I take my hat off to and some really interesting people with great stories to tell . I hang around beacause I genuinly like many of the people on here, even some that I've never met. Techenders and Kieths field are amongst the yearly weekend highlights for me, reuniting with aquantainces that I only see there and in reality know nothing about. I've always felt welcome even when i've gone by car, bike or Vauxhal Vivaro!

As a forum we're lucky to have so many characters on board and even luckier that we get to meet them, have a beer and talk nonsense for hours with them. I don't know of any other forum that can say that. Of course we're all different in many ways, backgrounds, jobs, hobbies, lifestyles, political views etc but that's part of the enjoyment, it'd be pretty dull otherwise :)
