i think this is the end

tootling along at 55mph, loving life, incredible weekend to an almighty explosion, cab fills of smoke and i cant see anything.. somehow get onto the hard shoulder and i seem to havea very stiff to turn by spanner engine.

i cant do this anymore. i love the bay and everything it is, how it makes me feel.. but i cant keep this up.

i have no idea what's gone wrong.. this engine never dripped any oil, i checked it Friday and absolutely fine.

I'm not a a mechanic.. i do my best.

im in a dark place once again and theres no respite

Oh dear, it's been a tragic weekend for camper engines.
How much oil it there in it now?

 

Sorry to hear this Sam.

You don't have much luck with engines.

Get recovered and then think about it with a fresh head.

Or ask for a nearby forum member to come and take a look

i just checked and engine oil. levels where fine.

now its lifted up but should of took. a picture.

my mind is blank.

Is it oily in the engine bay? Kind of looks like a fire extinguisher went off - maybe was that rather than smoke? That might have been the explosion too? And if powder got sucked into the engine that would make it stiff.

the fire extinguisher was me, there was a flame within the fan housing.. i can only assume some oil has combusted... I'll have it out this week.

i checked everything on the campsite this morning, which is the bigger hurt.

i only tightened the fuel pump and 1 carb nut...

literally balled my eyes out on the hard shoulder. just want a sustainable van, if I hadn't forked 2k on the interior last year, id just get rid

from what i can see, the oil cooler has exploded or the base it mounts to no longer exists..

there are fragments of case everywhere

yes, theres a hole in which i can get about 4 fingers into the engine case below the oil cooler mount

On the upside , if you shift your food buying from Booths to Aldi & you'll soon be able to save enough to replace the engine
