I wouldn’t use FaceBook like I use this place. It doesn’t work like a forum.

I’d chip in, this forum is alot easier to navigate to find info/or previous posts you know exist here,

It’s a relaxed getaway from the wormhole of distractions on FB, and able to choose what you read etc rather than being fed a stream of what the Meta AI think you want to see.

Also would seem strange referring to people with normal names!

What about Patreon, how does that work (seriously I don't know) but would we be able to support the forum via that?

You pay for Hayburner now ,
I can’t see why we shouldn’t pay a little to keep this going .

That would have reduced its value.

No insult to all concerned with the running of the forum , but there doesnt seem to be any appetite to take up on the offer of funding from members , or am i wrong . ?

I don’t understand how it works, but can we not simply go back to one?
Who do we pay now, and what do we actually get for it?

I think just because it’d be an admin nightmare. If it comes to it, and no one else volunteers, I’ll do it.

Through my ignorance, i dont know what it would involve. As one of the majority i sit back and enjoy the unseen labours of such as yourself, thank you.
From experience i know when it comes to handling money , temptation is too much for many and things do go wrong.
Who currently hosts the forum , so i could research what is involved and potentially offer assistance if required, i dont have a financial background and there would be other members more suitably qualified to do the required work . But if i can assist i would be willing to do so once ive educated myself of the requirements

Basically, it’d be a case of setting up a PayPal account I guess, collecting all the donations, and paying whoever we pay!
The only headache will be administering what would hopefully be, loads of donations!
We’d have to be fairly certain we’d hit the target figure, as managing refunds would be much more labour intensive I’d imagine.

The biggest issue i see is consistency of donations , would they be voluntary or an acceptance of terms of joining that you agree to contribute. What happens to current members and their conditions of membership.
Likewise members who currently agree to donate a sum , though generous , dont make up a large enough group to raise the funds needed , it takes alot of £20s to make £1200 plus .
Theres more to running the site than most would think , not only time but money as well

  20. Have you actually set anything in motion to collect donations? Plenty of alternatives.
