Dogs really slow resto!

Ha ha ha ha just read what auto correct did. I quite prefer that.

 

Keep going mate, and good choice on going for the whole tub.

I think it must be fairly common to get jibed taking your time on a resto, I get people all time asking - is this the same one you were doing before etc, after having seen it 3 years ago.

started chopping out the old arch


spot the deliberate health and safety fopar!


found plenty of the PO's bodges, lots of layers of steel sandwiched between filler as usual lol


got most of it cut out and did a test fit


bit of adjustment and it looks like being a good fit! can you guess where it came from? cheers bigrich and the gang!



took off the fuel filler pipe. it looks ok, where it slips over the steel pipe its cracking a bit! it's still pliable and not at all brittle so i think i'm going to buy some of that rubber restore stuff and maybe coat it in some protective shizzle before i put it back on to be 100% happy with it


covered in small grinder burns on my arms.................love it!

Yes, replace that old filler hose, it's knackered.

You've chopped of a lot of bits? One day you'll ask me to come and put them back. lol

the coolair filler pipe was a good fit on mine .....even though it is a bit expensive, its worth the piece of mind.....and imagine the years of abuse you would get if your mates had to pull up in the big red truck to put out a fire in your bus......you'd never live it down

so managed to get about half hour on the bus this afternoon,
double checked my test fit with the arch on the other side(OG) and found it to be spot on!
marked out all the areas i needed to cut out and ...............cut them out. welded up any untidy areas and bits i shouldn't have cut through then tidied up all the areas with a wire wheel ready to grind flat and weld in new steel
