so got a morning in today and got on with repairing the chassis

bit hard to see, but this is the inner part of the chassis box looking through the wheel arch, new metal welded in
    [IMG]
    trimmed it up
    [IMG]
then cleaned ot up ready for some zinc rich primer
    [IMG]
next i tackled the bottom and outside, cut up the steel and tacked it in place
    [IMG]
then welded the crap out of it, just love welding thick steel, no danger of blowing holes in this bad boy
    [IMG]
dressed it up and put some zinc rich primer on it for now
    [IMG]

all thats left is for me to weld up the inside from in the engine bay, only cosmetic welds though as its been solidly welded up from inside the chassis section

also started on removing the wiring loom, got as far as the engine bay and had to stop. taking out the petrol tank next to free up the wire for the fuel sender so i can completely remove the loom and check out the tank and area it sits on for rust, i'm sure there'll be some! just need some long sockets to reach the nuts on the tank retaining straps, can't believe i haven't got any!
bought some of this to see if it works

    - Prevents the reappearance of rust.
    - Lubricant additives for excellent wear protection

also removed the gearbox mount jobby so i can clean it up, going to go all paradox on it lol

still loads of rust in the engine bay area, a lot of it is heavy surface rust, but there are places that need new metal.

hopefully get on with repairing the arch tub this weekend

    thats all for now!

    Bloody hell. Go dog go!

  7. Now your working like a man trying to avoid a screaming kid lol

Go dog go yours will be finished before mine at this rate

  8. Oh and plus gas is the dogs danglies if that dont help unsieze it then hit it with some heat

The best way to use plus gas is to douse the offending fastener the night before then again the next day
Tighten the bolt a little first to crack the corrosion and if the head chews a little it doesent matter as its the opposing faces needed to undo it

Then rock forwards and backwards a bit at a time whilst applying more plusgas

What your trying to do is build up a grinding paste in the threads made from rust and plusgas

Keep doing the forwards and backwards motion then move a little further ound and repeat

If it be comes tight at any time then go half a turn back and start again

so got a bit more done today, only had the morning so didn't do a huge amount!

first things first i got the burner going, is bloomin cold outside!

got a patch welded in to the arch tub, cleaned it up and kurusted it all. didn't bother dressing the welds too much as this is going to be hidden. cut away some more of the tub ready to recieve the new metal and to make it a bit easier to get into the arch to work
    [IMG]
then zinc rich primered it for now
    [IMG]
cleaned away the old underseal and seam sealed it inside the tub
    [IMG]
then i tackled the wiring harness. would have been easier with two people i think, but i battled on and got it all out. got lots of cuts and wear in the sleeve so i'd imagine there are some damaged wires in there.
put it all in a box in the bottom of my cupboard so i can forget about it for a couple of years when i get all the body work done lol
    [IMG]
not going to get a lot more done this week cos i've got the t4 mot and i'm off to winter camp and newquay, so hopefully more updates in a week or two

not looking forward to stripping all that horrible tar underseal off, thats a job for later on i think, oh for the space to use a rollover jig!

  18. Your best bet is to do it whilst it cold dog dude as it comes off in chunks then instead of smearing around a lot
