I guess it depends how things are looking nearer the time and what they put in place. There are a lot of smaller outdoor stages there, and it is in late August.

No plans but we do anyway. We were chatting about it yesterday and the crew didn't even realise we are in lockdown! TBH nor did I until quite recently.

But as I hope you've read, I'm thinking about it with an open mind and "discussing" it as is my right, but I'm not anti at all as I've been at pains to point out.
As usual you are imagining what I think and plan to do and then knocking me based on that.

I believe flu is the nearest thing comparable in terms of science and virus types and all that. I accept that is a magnitude more serious/deadly and I didn't suggest it was on a par with flu in that sense.

For perspective, I've always lead a somewhat reclusive life, worked on my own mostly etc and for over 40 years I have not knowingly had a virus, a cold, an upset stomach... or anything "going about" despite the ex-wifey working with hyper spreaders of everything in a day centre for extremely mentally and physically disabled and kids at school who got everything as it passed. It does make me wonder what actual use it would be to other people that I do not mingle with for me to be vaccinated. Note the word "wonder" as opposed to "plan". If you're up for discussion rather than bludgeoning ghosts, I'd be interested in the technicality of that. I don't wish to endanger anyone. I think part of the problem here is you think I must be exaggerating my hermitude. Here's an e.g. Ron's boat is 6ft from mine. He died. I didn't know for a month.

Being self employed, I don’t get ill, and have never bothered with the flu jab in the past, but once the wife noticed me putting nagging letters from the nhs about flu jabs in the bin, I got a lecture, followed shortly by a flu jab...

I will be getting the COVID jab as soon as it becomes available to us youngsters though, and think the passporty thing is a good idea to keep the germy, skanky tinfoil hats at bay... :D

  5. Last year I paid for my wife and a member of staff/friend to have a week in new York....it looks like they will need a vaccine and proof to travel hopefully this year. My wife says no problem bring it on, member of staff said she didn't want it..now she's not happy the wife said she'll have to take someone else.....:rolleyes:
Anyone fancy a paid for trip to new york...form an orderly queue here hahaha

  6. I hope you came across that information by accident as opposed to going looking for it. A saga cruise whatever next, you'll be buying a motorhome.

  7. As usual I'm reacting to "what you actually say" not reading anything in to it. Im not "knocking" you I'm commenting on your statements from my and most peoples perspectives id expect. Its a public forum and not an email exchange and therefore it is right for people to discuss and comment especially if the viewpoint is perceived as negative and ill informed against something which is for the benefit of all as to not do so would condone such views and encourage others to take that standpoint . Its the effect face book has after all.(same old same old! . i think the masses should take all libertarians out and shoot them for their own good... what do you mean its been tried and it doent work? but then again most arent libertarians they are just leaching off the back of others and dont actually have a view they arrived at themselves)

  8. As for bludgeoning. Lose someone close to you then have a discussion with someone about not having the vaccine or whether they should wear a face covering or whether covid is real or whether its just like a bit of flu. and have that discusion without being ever such a little bit forceful or even slightly angry. Its not their fault is it but it is of course emotive!

  9. £50.00 for false certificate £150.00 for the legal test and certificate.A woman who was selling certificates when interviewed on the radio said she was 100% sorry and she had sold less than 10 ,might have been 8 or less !.when asked how she felt about the possibility that maybe people could suffer or die because of her actions she was again 100% sorry when pushed on the subject she was 110% sorry FFS.

The friend of ours who caught Covid at Christmas is still fighting for his life, getting better but very slow, he was induced into a coma early January & is still in it. He has been brought out of it but couldn't cope and they put him back into it.

He's same age as me, 53, he may never see normality the way he used to.

Its an interesting discussion, it is going to be quite likely that you will not get another job, without a vaccination certificate for instance, as a refusal to be vaccinated might be construed as a desire to allow other people to die or suffer or waste time and effort on your behalf.

Eventually even a hermit comes into contact with other people inside a shared space. At that point they will be reasonable in barring the door if you dont offer that proof you care about others.

Just like the yellow fever vaccination I needed before Angola would let me into the country - they didnt want me to bring it in, and didnt want to have to waste time and money looking after me if I caught it.

  12. Personally the science is good enough for me to be happy to get a jab i.e. the likelihood of me having some bad side effect is nominal and I also see benefits in protecting me and my family, and the wider community. Dictating that one should have one seems to be a different matter, I do feel a little uncomfortable in going down that route, not sure what might be dictated to us next?

  13. I was going through some old family papers over the weekend and came across my mother's National Identity Card, date stamped 1950. No idea why still active 5 years after the end of WW2, possibly because rationing was still in place?

    Just saying like......

It sounds as if the majority of us on TLB agree that this is a serious, very real horrible virus and that we should be vaccinated and that we don't have a problem with vaccine passports/ certificates I'd like to add that I think if anyone is found with or supplying someone with a fake/false certificate that this should be made a criminal offence and a custodial prison sentence should be handed out

Not really. He'd been going downhill for years, lately saying it's no life which isn't like he used to be a few years ago. Still paying maintenance at 80 years old+ on one of his scores of children who all disowned him despite his initial charisma. It was hard to approve of him though he made me laugh when I met him. He shouted everything because he was deaf so he shouted "I can still ___ 'em Steve". He lived on a boat full of junk with no heating and the windows open all year round. It's being cleared and has risen about 4" which is a LOT.

It is uncomfortable, but the rights of citizens may have to be tempered by them gaining responsibilities for which they in return keep rights of free movement. Proving you are doing your best to remain healthy may be a price we have to pay to keep on being supported by a national health service.
